Zoonotic diseases are of considerable concern to the human population and viruses such as avian influenza (AIV) threaten food security, wildlife conservation and human health. Wild waterfowl and the natural wetlands they use, are known AIV reservoirs, with birds capable of virus transmission to domestic poultry populations. While infection risk models have linked migration routes and AIV outbreaks, there is a limited understanding of wild waterfowl presence on commercial livestock facilities, and movement patterns linked to natural wetlands. In this dataset, records (rows) represent all analyzed locations of individual waterfowl relative to locations of commercial livestock facilities and habitats. Each row has...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed a spatial water-quality model called SPAtially Referenced Regressions On Watershed attributes (SPARROW) to estimate the major sources and environmental factors that affect the long-term supply, transport, and fate of contaminants in the Nation’s streams. The SPARROW model relates in-stream water-quality data to spatially referenced characteristics of watersheds, including contaminant sources and factors influencing terrestrial and aquatic transport. Based on SPARROW modeling, one of the main nutrient sources to streams is point-source facilities such as municipal waste-water treatment plants that discharge directly to streams. This dataset was developed to assist with...

A three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (3D HFM) of the westernmost western Snake River Plain (WSRP) aquifer system was prepared to represent the subsurface distribution and thickness of four hydrogeologic units. The primary source of data for the 3D HFM was lithologic data from a total of 291 well-driller reports. These data were then processed using Rockware Rockworks17 three-dimensional modeling software. The data released here are grouped into three datasets: (1) An ASCII text file of the 3D HFM containing XYZ data. (2) Comma-delineated CSV files containing well information including lithology. (3) An MP4 video file showing the 3D HFM model as it is revealed by slices and then rotated.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) works closely with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to provide information to be used by the MDOT for design of highway-drainage structures. MDOT spends millions of dollars annually for highway construction. Streamflow records, hydrologic analyses of basins, and hydraulic analyses of flooding potential at proposed highway crossings help the MDOT to make more informed decisions on the use of highway construction funding. Flood-frequency and hydraulic characteristics at highway crossings are determined from historical flood-elevation data recovered by the USGS, cross-section data, and correlations with data from nearby gaging stations. Additional streamflow data...

Discharge measurements made at U.S. Geological Survey Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal near Lemont, Illinois, streamgage (05536890) between 2005 and 2013 were reviewed and manually processed using QRev v3.12. Discharge was measured using Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) deployed from a moving boat according to the procedures described in Mueller and others (2013). QRev generates an extensible markup language file (XML) that provides information on measurement characteristics (Mueller, 2016a,b). Data from these XML files were exported into a comma-separated values (CSV) table to create a summary of measurement information. This CSV table also indicates which measurements were used in the development of index-velocity...

A biophysical approach to modeling overland flow in the Everglades can help predict future outcomes for ecological habitat, water storage during droughts, and water conveyance during floods. The data provided include measurements of vegetation stem architecture, microtopography, and landscape pattern metrics. Stem architecture measurements present the opportunity to estimate flow roughness of distinct vegetation communities based on hydraulic principles. At a larger scale, the microtopography and the connectivity of the sloughs between ridges offer a way to quantify the effects of flow blockage and tortuous flow paths on overland flow. Combined with theory, these data provide the capacity to simulate overland flow...

The dataset contains hazard-exposure estimates of FY2020 Federal Real Property Profile (FRPP) data to 100-year and 500-year flood-hazard zones for the years 2022 and 2052. Flow depths for each of the four hazard zones were estimated for every FRPP record using geospatial analysis. Results include raw values for estimated flow depths in centimeters and bin values on a -1 to 5 scale. Flood-hazard zones were available for the conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. FRRP data records were limited to government-owned buildings and structures for all identified property uses, except for records identified as "navigation aids (other than buildings)."

This data release comprises three separate datasets and their accompanying metadata, in zip files. The data were acquired as part of a laboratory study of the response of ultramafic materials to shear at hydrothermal conditions. The principal dataset consists of the strength-displacement data from 28 friction experiments acquired on gouges prepared from peridotite rock samples and from separates of its principal mineral constituents olivine and orthopyroxene. The other two datasets present mineralogical data for the run products obtained by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive system (EDS) techniques.
From July to November 2019, 48 environmental samples and four quality assurance and quality control samples were collected throughout the Lake Champlain and Susquehanna River Basins. Samples were collected from 10 production wells and nine domestic wells in the Lake Champlain Basin, and 14 production wells and 15 domestic wells in the Susquehanna River Basin. Of the total wells sampled, 24 were completed in bedrock and 23 were completed in sand and gravel. Approximately 20 percent of samples were collected from wells that previously have been sampled as part of this study in 2005, 2009, and 2014. Groundwater samples were collected prior to any treatment or filtration systems, from existing domestic and production...
