Real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system equipment was used to survey the edge of bank at selected locations on the Lake Sharpe shoreline near Lower Brule South Dakota at intervals from 2010–15. This work was completed by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Environmental Protection Office.
Acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data were collected along a prescribed navigated course throughout Calumet Harbor on May 6, 2016 to determine the spatial distribution of layer-averaged velocities. The data were layer-averaged in 2-foot increments of depth from the bed to the water surface, and temporally-averaged over a 30-second window to reduce noise. Data were processed using the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and other, 2013). Any data assigned a value of "-9999" are invalid or missing and should not be used for analysis. Parsons, D. The polygon (vector) shapefile represents Public Land Survey System (PLSS) sections, or 1-square mile areas of land, with information about Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land and mineral use authorizations for mining claims. For each section, the number of claims (by type) was determined and a density (by claim type) was calculated. The land areas specified by BLM authorizations vary in size and orientation, and may cross PLSS section boundaries. For spatial consistency, the information was aggregated to the square mile PLSS section boundary. The original source data from BLM Cases Recordation database (LR2000) were specific to the day they were generated (March 6, 2016) and subsequent data pulls will likely be...

Additional data layers have been developed to supplement recently published information collected and developed for an investigation of shoreline erosion along the Lower Brule Reservation in Central South Dakota. The additional data layers presented in this data release include georeferenced 1965 single frame aerial photos, digitized shoreline features from the georeferenced 1965 images, digitized shoreline features from 2016 aerial imagery, and real-time kinematic surveys of shoreline features on selected reaches of the Lake Sharpe shoreline in 2018. This effort was completed by the USGS Dakota Water Science Center in cooperation with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, Tribal Preservation Office.

The land areas specified by BLM authorizations vary in size and orientation, and may cross one or more PLSS section boundaries. For spatial consistency, the information was aggregated to the square mile PLSS section boundary. The original source data from BLM Cases Recordation database (LR2000) were specific to the day they were generated (March 6, 2016) and subsequent data pulls will likely be different.

Acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) data were collected at multiple transects spaced in a regular grid throughout Calumet Harbor on May 12, 2015 to determine the spatial distribution of layer-averaged velocities. The data were layer-averaged in 2-foot increments of depth from the bed to the water surface, and spatially averaged over 269-foot intervals to reduce noise and correspond to nodes of an US Army Corps of Engineers existing hydraulic model. Data were processed using the Velocity Mapping Toolbox (Parsons and other, 2013). Any data assigned a value of "-9999" are invalid or missing and should not be used for analysis. Parsons, D. This is release 1.0 of the Selective Drainage Toolbox. These tools are designed to be accessed using ArcGIS Desktop software (versions 9.3.1 to 10.4.1). The toolbox is composed of a collection of custom tools that implement geographic information system (GIS) techniques that can be used to identify and enforce drainage hydro features in digital elevation models- with a specific applicability to high- resolution elevation models derived from light detection and ranging (lidar) data.

The U.S. Geological Survey Dakota Water Science Center, in cooperation with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, have been collecting data to document shoreline erosion along Lake Sharpe and within the Lower Brule Reservation. This data release includes data collected and compiled from four efforts: shorelines were digitized from existing available maps and aerial imagery to record shoreline locations over time, trail cameras were used to automatically collect photos of the shoreline over time and create time-lapse videos, bank location surveys were completed at intervals to record changes in the location of the top of bank over time, and an unmanned aerial system (drone) was used to collect imagery that was used to generate...
Pour points derived from NHDPlus V2.1 flow direction rasters and the NHDPlus V2.1 WBD HU12 snapshot. Three sets of pour points are provided: From (fpp) and to (tpp) points that identify the location where raster flow leaves the HU12 polygon, and a third "vector pour point" (vpp) selected "upstream" for use in detecting flow confluences near the raster pour point locations. This dataset is PROVISIONAL and SUBJECT TO REVISION.
