This dataset consists of 176 wideband magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected from 2015-2019 across parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) acquired these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic and tectonic framework of the area and to support mineral resource investigations. These data have been used to generate a 3D regional conductivity model of the area. These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in ASCII format, generated from hydrographic surveys near six highway bridge structures over the Gasconade River in central Missouri. These sites were surveyed in June 2017 to help identify possible effects from extreme flooding on May 1-2, 2017. At the five downstream sites, hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. The Middle Fork Willamette River basin encompasses 3,548 square kilometers of western Oregon and drains to the mainstem Willamette River. Fall Creek basin encompasses 653 square kilometers and drains to the Middle Fork Willamette River. In cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Geological Survey evaluated geomorphic responses of downstream river corridors to annual drawdowns to streambed at Fall Creek Lake. This data release includes 2014 time-series data from three debris-flow monitoring stations at Chalk Cliffs in Chaffee County, Colorado, USA. The data were collected to help identify the triggering conditions, magnitude, and mobility of debris flows at the site. The three stations are located sequentially along a channel draining the 0.3 km^2 study area. The Upper, Middle, and Lower stations have respective drainage areas of 0.06, 0.16, and 0.24 km^2. These data are a compilation of four mask layers (regions), and enhanced vegetation indices calculated from airborne or satellite imagery. The mask layers were used created to extract satellite EVI data from the four airborne or satellite imagery datasets. The Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) is a key Earth science parameter used to assess vegetation, originally developed and calibrated for the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites. The data included here were gathered to determine the effects of cattle grazing on wetland water quality in the Klamath National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. Surface water samples from sites representing a range of grazing histories were collected between June and October in 2017 and 2018. Samples were analyzed for nutrients (ammonia, nitrate plus nitrite, nitrite, and orthophosphate), total coliforms, E. coli, enterococci, and estrogenicity by U.S. Geological Survey laboratories. Estuaries provide critical habitat for a vast array of fish and wildlife but are also a nexus for core economic activities that mobilize and concentrate contaminants that can threaten aquatic species. Selenium (Se), an essential element and potent reproductive toxin, is enriched in parts of the San Francisco Estuary (SFE) to levels known to cause toxicity, yet the risk of Se to species that inhabit the SFE is not well understood. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data at Risk (DaR) team partnered with the Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center (FRESC) to preserve and release a subset of their golden eagle telemetry data. Continuous slope-area sensors are installed at four cross sections downstream from Flume 6 operated by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at the Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed. The CSA reach was installed to test the CSA method and determine channel roughness using the known discharge measured by Flume 6. A flow event occurred on July 28, 2017. A GPS survey was conducted on August 2, 2017, to document the CSA pin elevations, cross section geometry at the CSA sensor locations, and high-water marks from the flow event.

A 3D temperature model is constructed in order to support the estimation of physical parameters within the USGS National Crustal Model. The crustal model is defined by a geological framework consisting of various lithologies with distinct mineral compositions. A temperature model is needed to calculate mineral density and bulk and shear modulus as a function of position within the crust. These properties control seismic velocity and impedance, which are needed to accurately estimate earthquake travel times and seismic amplitudes in earthquake hazard analyses. During water years 2016–2020, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, operated continuous monitoring stations on eight of the major rivers in Illinois to better quantify nutrient and sediment loadings from the State of Illinois to the Mississippi River. This data release presents estimates of daily nitrate, suspended sediment, and phosphorus concentrations and uncertainty from that period. The concentration estimates are based on a combination of discrete sampling data and surrogate regression (imputation). The data release comprises a single csv file containing daily timeseries of concentration and uncertainty for each monitoring station.

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release includes input and output tabular files associated with mean seasonal 2002 simulations of total nitrogen and total phosphorus loads of the northeastern United States. The mean seasonal (MS) simulations are performed using a dynamic configuration of the USGS’s Spatially Referenced Regression On Watershed attributes (dynamicSPARROW-MS) model, nonlinear regression techniques, and monitored data. Santa Rosa Island, part of Channel Islands National Park off the coast of California, has a undergone a history of ecologic degradation due to introduced ungulate grazing for ranching (cattle and sheep) and hunting (deer and elk) purposes. Grazing in many parts of the island has resulted in widespread vegetation loss and subsequent erosion presumably causing changes in infiltration/runoff relations. In some areas, large sections of bedrock are exposed while other areas have thin soils left with much of the organic-rich materials removed. The Great Works (20 feet high) and Veazie (30 feet high) dams on the lower section of the Penobscot River in Maine were removed during the summers of 2012 and 2013, respectively. Channel cross sections upstream and downstream of these dams from just below the Milford Dam to the head‐of‐tide at Eddington Bend just below the former Veazie Dam were surveyed before and after the dams were removed in order to assess changes in the channel as a result of the dam removals.
