Landscape suitability was mapped by applying a model developed for Northwest Minnesota to the 2001 National Land Cover Data for Iowa. Logistic regression was used to compare landscape characteristics between booming grounds and random sites. The model is based on the assumption that areas classified as hayland are equivalent to grassland habitat. In addition to providing information about the Greater Prairie-Chicken, this map is included as a representation of the location of mid-grass habitat in amounts significant enough to support grassland species more generally.
