The 2008 - Present Ecosystem History of South Florida's Estuaries Database contains listings of all sites (modern and core) and modern monitoring site survey information (water chemistry, floral and faunal data, etc.). Three general types of data are contained within this database: 1) Modern Field Data (2008-present), 2) Master list of location information on all modern sites, and 3) Core data - location information. Data are available for modern sites (from 2008 to present) and cores in the general areas of Florida Bay, Biscayne Bay, and the southwest (Florida) coastal mangrove estuaries. Specific sites in the Florida Bay area include Taylor Creek, Bob Allen Key, Russell Bank, Pass Key, Whipray Basin, Rankin Bight,...

This data set includes geographic coordinates for both pre- and post-adjustment locations used to georectify orthoimagery and digital surface models derived from aerial imagery collected using unoccupied aerial systems (UAS) in October 2016. Georeferencing links are provided for each data type (color or multi-band imagery) and portion of the atoll sampled during different UAS missions. Orthoimagery and DSM derived from a given data set and area were georeferenced using the same set of points.
Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus), listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, are among the more thermally sensitive of coldwater species in North America. The Boise River upstream of Arrowrock Dam in southwestern Idaho (including Arrowrock Reservoir) provides habitat for one of the southernmost populations of bull trout. The presence of the species in Arrowrock Reservoir poses implications for dam and reservoir operations. From 2011 to 2014, the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Geological Survey collected fish telemetry data to improve understanding of bull trout distribution and movement in Arrowrock Reservoir and in the upper Boise River tributaries. The U.S. Geological Survey compiled the telemetry...

This CSV file contains cumulative fish habitat condition index (HCI) scores generated for river reaches of the conterminous United States as well as indices generated specifically for four spatial units including local and network catchments and 90 m local and network buffers of river reaches. Note that the cumulative HCI score is determined from limiting index scores generated for the four spatial units listed above. Detailed methods for calculating cumulative fish habitat condition index scores as well as the indices for each spatial extent can be found on the following website: http://assessment.fishhabitat.org/: The variables used to create indices in catchments vs. buffers differ due to differences in resolution...

The data provide location and data quality information for ground control points (GCP) deployed at Palmyra Atoll for acquisition of imagery using small unoccupied aerial systems (sUAS) in October 2016. Thales ProMark 3 handheld geographic positioning systems (GPS) were used as both a local base station and to record locations of individual GCPs, with occupancy times of approximately 30 minutes per GCP. Location data for GCPs were post-processed against base station data using Mobile Mapper Office software to yield local position accuracy of approximately 0.1 m.

Soils and organismal tissue from known and potential sources of contamination at Palmyra Atoll were measured for concentrations of 13 elements using a hand-held X-Ray Flourometer (XRF). Measured elements include; Lead (PB), Arsenic (As), Cobalt (Co), Cromium (Cr), Copper (Cu), Antimony (Sb), Iron (Fe), Titanium (Ti), Zinc (Zn), Nickel (Ni), Manganese (Mn), Sulphur (S) and Phosphorous (P). Concentrations of other elements were excluded because they were below the limit of detection or were sporadically detected; these include Tin (Sn), Cadmium (Cd), Silver (Ag), Strontium (Sr), Ruthenium (Rb), Selenium (Se), Mercury (Hg), Vanadium (V), Scantium (Sc), Calcium (Ca), Potassium (K), and Chlorine (Cl). Since the late 1950s, the USGS has maintained a long-term glacier mass-balance program at three North American glaciers. Measurements began on South Cascade Glacier, WA in 1958, expanding to Gulkana and Wolverine glaciers, AK in 1966, and later Sperry Glacier, MT in 2005. The Juneau Icefield Research Program has measured surface mass balance on Lemon Creek and Taku Glacier since the mid-1940s, with USGS providing complimentary seasonal measurements of Lemon Creek beginning in 2014 (JIRP; Pelto and others, 2013). Direct field measurements of point glaciological data are combined with weather and geodetic data to estimate the seasonal and annual mass balance at each glacier in both a conventional and reference surface...

Egg mat retention trials were conducted with walleye (Stizostedion vitreum) and lake whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis) eggs in an experimental flume tank, seeded directly on egg mats (test retention efficiency) and hand dispersed in flowing flume water to simulate spawning over egg mats (test capture efficiency) with and without alternate substrate. In the field study, we measured number of eggs collected on mats and with bottom drift nets in the Detroit River to compare capture effectiveness. The field collection data describe the number, date of collection, and exact collection location of target species (walleye and lake whitefish). The flume trial data include number of eggs retained or collected, water velocity,...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, Arkansas Geological Survey, and the Union County Water Conservation Board, has monitored water levels as a part of an ongoing effort to provide information for management of the Sparta-Memphis aquifer. The USGS has produced reports, at various intervals, to describe groundwater conditions in the Sparta-Memphis aquifer. These datasets provide the locations of and groundwater-level altitudes from 306 wells that were used to construct a potentiometric contour surface of the Sparta-Memphis aquifer. Measurements were made from January through May 2013 and represent synoptic conditions. All wells were cased completely in...

The South Florida Fish and Invertebrate Assessment Network (FIAN) is a monitoring project within the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). It is an element of the Southern Estuaries module of the Monitoring and Assessment Plan (MAP).The FIAN is designed to support the four broad objectives of MAP: (1) to establish a pre-CERP reference state, including variability, for each of the performance measures; (2) to determine the status and trends in the performance measures; (3) to detect unexpected responses of the ecosystem to changes in stressors resulting from CERP activities; and (4) to support scientific investigations designed to increase ecosystem understanding, cause-and-effect, and interpretation...
