As part of its Geologic Legacy Program, the NJGWS scanned and digitized documents from recently retired geologist Richard Volkert. As part of this project the NJGWS digitized of approximately 17,297 field locations from his field maps and notebooks.

Collection of data from the Lead-Zinc District of Northwestern Illinois. Collection includes borehole data, driller logs, descriptive logs, formation tops, and downhole lead, zinc, and iron concentrations from mining operations circa 1900-1980. The Karst database is now (06/30/2020) being managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Ecological and Water Resources. Since the early 1980s, the partner agencies have been mapping karst features and publishing various versions of their results in the form of 1:100,000 scale County Geologic Atlases. In the mid 1990s, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources was assigned responsibility for the hydrogeology portions of the County Atlases, and therefore is now responsible for the karst mapping. This collection contains test-hole cores through surficial sediments and shallow bedrock drilled by the Nebraska Geological Survey (Conservation and Survey Division), the Nebraska Department of Roads, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and other organizations, including bedrock cores drilled by petroleum and mineral concerns. A portion of the cores in this collection originated from oil producing areas and areas with potential petroleum development within the Panhandle region of western Nebraska.
