This data are a single table of nest records from a multi-year study of Pacific Common Eider (Somateria mollissima v-nigrum) biology that was conducted along the lower Kashunuk River, Kigigak Island, and the mouth of the Tutakoke River on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta from 1991-2004.
This data set contains information on blood chemistry and hematological parameters of captive Pacific Common Eiders (Somateria mollissima v-nigrum) for reference periods and after satellite transmitter implantation. These data were collected for health assessments, to evaluate seasonal changes in regularly measured biomarkers, to assess the physiological responses to dive conditioning, and to measure responses to surgical implantation of a satellite transmitter.
This data contains two tables of live-dead encounter histories of Black Brant geese banded 4 breeding locations in the Arctic of northern Alaska and western Canada and one sub-Arctic location, the Tutakoke River colony on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta of Alaska, from 1990 to 2016.
This data set contains one table with mark-resight observations of Bristle-thighed Curlews marked on Oahu, Hawaii, with plastic color leg flags, 2012-2017.

Seward Peninsula airborne electromagnetic survey, Kigluiak, Bendeleben, and Darby Mountains, Geophysical Report 2024-2, covers parts of the Teller, Bendeleben, Nome, and Solomon 1:250,000-scale U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangles on the Seward Peninsula north of Nome, Alaska. Time-domain electromagnetic data were collected with the SkyTEM 306HP system, which was towed by a helicopter, from September 8 to October 3, 2023, and from June 5 to July 18, 2024. A total of 4,330-line kilometers (km) were collected covering 4,817 km2. The survey was flown with semi-parallel lines spaced approximately 1 km apart and oriented perpendicular to regional geologic strike. Electromagnetic data were used to create resistivity...

This dataset contains fatty acid (FA) data expressed as mass percent of total FA for bearded seals, ringed seals and walrus. This is one of many datasets used in Bromaghin et al. 2016 (https://doi.org/10.1111/2041-210X.12456). These supplemental data were used in computer simulations to compare the bias of several quantitative fatty acid signature analysis (QFASA) estimators and develop recommendations regarding estimator selection.
This data release contains multiple tables with information on avian demographics collected at the Colville River Delta, Alaska, 2011-2018. Researchers with the U.S. Geological Survey began studying the reproductive ecology of birds at a site on the Colville River near the Beaufort Sea coast in 2011. Researchers monitored the nests of geese, shorebirds, and landbirds at this study site, determining basic information like arrival dates, nest initiation date, clutch size, hatching success, and rates of chick growth. This release also contains first arrival observations of birds collected by Jim and Teena Helmericks from 1960-2019 at their house located ~15 km northeast of the USGS field camp.

This dataset provides clam species abundance and size data from intertidal and subtidal mixed sediment habitats in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve (GBNPP). Data are provided for all observed clams, horse mussels, or urchins 14 mm or larger. Sampling involved excavating 25 cm of substrate from quadrats (approximately 0.25 sq meter) along transects at random and selected sites, 10 quadrats at the 0 Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) tide level for intertidal sampling and 20 quadrats at approximately 9 m depth for subtidal sampling. Site and taxonomic information are provided. Abundance and size data are provided in two tables with different data configurations: (1) a compact version with data for those species observed...

This data package presents raw legacy data collected during 1974-1992 on the Arctic Coastal Plain (primarily in the National Petroleum Reserve - Alaska; NPR-A). The data were collected in support of a long-term multi-species wetland ecosystem study that aimed to provide an understanding of occurrence and densities of bird, mammal, fish, invertebrate, and plant species. The study included the Teshekpuk Lake Special Area (TLSA), as well as focused studies on individual lakes or regions within the special area, including: East Long Lake, West Long Lake, Goose Lake, Island Lake, Square Lake, Meade River (Singiluk), Point Storkersen, and Icy Cape. The study included 10 primary objectives: 1) complete daily weather records,...

This is a child item of the USGS Data Release: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9A7ITFH This dataset is one table with time-linked behavior data derived from video camera collars on polar bears on land near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Eighteen polar bears were equipped with video-camera collars (Vertex Plus collar with camera option, Vectronic Aerospace GmbH, Berlin, Germany) for 19 - 23 days in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore component and a seasonal diet study in Kenai Fjords National Park. This dataset consists of observations made of foraging sea otters (Enhydra lutris). Observers used Questar field model spotting scopes and binoculars to identify prey. Date, local time, dive duration, success, prey type, prey size, prey number, handling time and surface time were all recorded. Sites are in Alaska and include locations in Kachemak Bay, Katmai National Park and Preserve, Kenai Fjords National Park and Prince William Sound. The data in this file were collected from 2012—2024. This data package supports raw legacy data collected during 1980 on the Yakutat Forelands of Alaska. The data were collected to support a short-term study of waterbird migration patterns and habitat use during spring (April - May) and fall (August - October). The primary objectives of the study included: 1) determine the timing and rates of migration by waterbirds; 2) correlate observed patterns of migration with weather; 3) determine the use of estuarine and riverine systems by waterbirds during migration; 4) determine the use of wetlands and deep-water habitats by migrant waterfowl and shorebirds. Data is available upon request by contacting gs-ak_asc_datamanagers@usgs.gov About the Legacy Data In spring and fall...
Since 1993 the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has worked with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) to provide hydraulic assessments of scour for bridges throughout Alaska. As part of this effort, repeat channel cross section surveys, or channel soundings, have been collected at either the upstream or downstream side of bridges on an annual or as needed basis. Streambed and bank elevations are measured using USGS sounding weights and reels, weighted measuring tapes, acoustic Doppler current profilers, multibeam echo sounders and light detection and ranging and are referenced to the datum of as-built plan set to provide context for the streambed elevations in relation to bridge structures....

The data package "Sea Otter Aerial Survey Data from Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, 1999-2012" provides raw data for examining abundance and distribution of northern sea otters (Enhydra lutris kenyoni) in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in southeast Alaska, based on data collected during a series of population-wide aerial surveys. The USGS aerial sea otter surveys have been completed multiple times using consistent methodology involving aerial-based counts. The surveys provide data and a population estimate that Park and other Federal management agencies use for decision making and planning additional research. This data package includes a series of files with the raw digital data that was used for...
This data package includes two tables of data for Bristle-thighed curlews (Numenius tahitiensis) captured 2012-2014 on the James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge O'ahu, Hawaii (21.68 N, 157.95 W). One table provides capture, banding, morphology, and genetic data. The second table provides mark-resight data for estimating the size of the wintering population on Oahu in April of 2014. This dataset identifies lead (Pb) concentration found in the blood of waterfowl sampled in western and northern Alaska and eastern Russia between 1993 and 2022. Data include age, sex, body measurement, capture location, presence or absence of lead shot on x-rays, and blood lead levels. Because the study took place over a number of years at the same study sites, many of the same birds were sampled in multiple years.
