We developed the North American Freshwater Migratory Fish Database (NAFMFD) that synthesizes current knowledge of migratory status, pattern, and behavior for native and non-native freshwater fish species throughout North America, including 1,241 species representing 79 families and 322 genera.

This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Maria. Storm surge and flood events can assist expansion and distribution of nonindigenous aquatic species through the connection of adjacent watersheds, backflow of water upstream of impoundments, increased downstream flow, and creation of freshwater bridges along coastal regions. This map will help natural resource managers determine potential new locations for individual species, or to develop a watch list of potential new species within a watershed. These data include a subset of data from the Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database, that fall within the general area of the 2017...

This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Irma. This product summarizes data used in the analysis portion of our Flood and Storm Tracker (FaST) manuscript (see larger work citation). The dataset titled HUCsppMatrices2012-2022.csv has each Hydraulic Unit Code (HUC) with an introduced taxon in each storm and the HUC it connected to by flood waters (lateral or longitudinal). The dataset titled ConnectionPoints_2012-2022.csv has each lateral (not longitudinal or downstream) connection point for each storm event. The dataset titled LongitudinalConnectionPoints_2012-2022.csv has each longitudinal or downstream connection point for each storm event.

This dataset includes locations and associated information about mines and mining activity in the contiguous United States. The database was developed by combining publicly available national datasets of mineral mines, uranium mines, and minor and major coal mine activities. This database was developed in 2013, but temporal range of mine data varied dependent on source. Uranium mine information came from the TENORM Uranium Location Database produced by the US Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) in 2003. Major and minor coal mine information was from the USTRAT (Stratigraphic data related to coal) database 2012, and the mineral mine data came from the USGS Mineral Resource Program.

This product summarizes data for the web engine search analysis and the outreach materials analysis from our report entitled, Assessing Risk Communication in the Pet and Aquarium Trade: An Analysis of Outreach and Engagement Efforts. The web engine search data include internet search results from Google and Bing. Materials analysis data include a matrix of questions that were used to determine messaging elements.

This GeoJSON dataset contains information about 10780 waterfall and 1080 rapid locations (referred to as falls throughout the metadata) and characteristics (e.g. type and height) for the conterminous United States. This dataset centralizes known information about falls while providing basic quality control (i.e. resolving duplicate records and spatial accuracy checks) and linkages to stream networks intended to facilitate stream network analyses. Locations of falls were sourced from the World Waterfall Database (WWD, www.worldwaterfalldatabase.com), the US Forest Service Center for Aquatic Technology Transfer (acquired from Southeast Aquatic Barrier Inventory), and Geographic Names Information System (GNIS, https://geonames.usgs.gov)....

This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Nate.
