This tabular data set represents mean-annual actual evapotranspiration, estimated using the regression equation of Sanford and Selnick (2013) compiled for two spatial components of the NHDPlus version 2 data suite (NHDPlusv2) for the conterminous United States; 1) individual reach catchments and 2) reach catchments accumulated upstream through the river network. This dataset can be linked to the NHDPlus version 2 data suite by the unique identifier COMID. The source data for mean-annual actual evapotranspiration was produced by the USGS (Sanford and others, 2013) using the regression equation of Sanford and Selnick (2013). Units are millimeters per year. Reach catchment information characterizes data at the local...
We compared the water balance among the earth's major terrestrial ecosystems. Potential evapotranspiration, actual evapotranspiration (AET) and deficit were derived for each month and year from 19-25-yr climate records at ninety-four sites around the world representing eleven biomes. For each variable, we determined mean annual values. Our focus, however, was to examine temporal variation in AET, which previously has been correlated with large-scale patterns of ecosystem structure and function. Standard deviation of annual AET, an absolute measure of interannual variability, was highest for grasslands and lowest for tundra and taiga. Coefficient of variation of annual AET, a relative measure of variability, was...

These data are derived from the Basin Characterization Model (BCM) and used as input to a total dissolved solids SPARROW model for the Upper Colorado River Basin. The BCM mechanistically models the pathways of precipitation into evapotranspiration, infiltration into soils, runoff, or percolation below the root zone to recharge groundwater (Flint and others, 2013). The dataset is composed of twelve, 270-meter resolution raster layers representing mean total annual values for water years 1985 - 2012 of actual evapotranspiration (aet), climatic water deficit (cwd), excess water (exc), snowmelt (mlt), snowpack (pck), potential evapotranspiration (pet), precipitation (ppt), recharge (rch), runoff (run), sublimation (sbl),...
