This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Maria. Storm surge and flood events can assist expansion and distribution of nonindigenous aquatic species through the connection of adjacent watersheds, backflow of water upstream of impoundments, increased downstream flow, and creation of freshwater bridges along coastal regions. This map will help natural resource managers determine potential new locations for individual species, or to develop a watch list of potential new species within a watershed. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) requires the use of ecological indicators to measure the success of restoration efforts. The Everglades amphibian community is ideal because amphibians are present in all habitats and under all hydrologic regimes. During Everglades restoration, hydrologic patterns will change and the response of ecological indicators will determine success. Fourteen amphibian species were detected through visual encounter surveys, vocalization surveys and trapping methods throughout the study and the occurrence information collected in this project database.

From 2004 to 2006, we used a variety of sampling techniques to survey the amphibians of Savannah National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR), a large protected area straddling the lower portions of the Savannah River on the border between South Carolina and Georgia, USA. We documented 22 amphibian species, 15 frogs and 7 salamanders, with a possible 23rd species present. Amphibians occupied a variety of habitats and appeared tolerant of the mildly acidic and low oxygen conditions of many of the wetlands. This initial survey provides a historic baseline for monitoring amphibian populations as areas adjacent to the refuge.

This dataset provides the results of a national survey of the conterminous U.S. for the salamander chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans (Bsal) conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative from May 2014 to August 2017. Sites were sampled by capturing amphibians by hand or by traps or nets that were then swabbed individually using methods that prevent sample contamination. All swabs were then analyzed using a real-time TaqMan PCR for detection of B. salamandrivorans on the extracted DNA. The data consist of locality information and data on the individual sampled, as well as the result of the test for B. salamandrivorans. No cases of B. salamandrivorans were detected...

From 2002-2006, we used a variety of sampling techniques to survey the amphibians and water chemistry of Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge in Florida’s Big Bend region. We recorded 23 amphibian species, 19 frogs and 4 salamanders. Species richness was lower than in areas of the coastal Big Bend region to the north. Amphibians occupied a wide variety of habitats and appeared tolerant of the generally acidic conditions of many of the wetlands. Although additional species may yet be found in LSNWR, this survey provides a historic baseline for assessing future status and trends of amphibian populations.

Data were collected on whole blood DNA parameters including cell cycle, DNA fragmentation, and genome size obtained from Northern leopard frogs exposed to neonicotinoid insecticides in the laboratory. Data consist of flow cytometry files that were generated in the analysis of the frog blood.

Call observation data from the Louisiana Amphibian Monitoring Program (LAMP). Each route has 10 stops. The routes are in one of 3 Louisiana regions (north, south and Florida parishes). Routes are identified by number and name. Call observations are categorical number 0 (not heard) through 3 (full chorus with overlapping calls). Each route has 10 stops. Data were collected from Xenopus laevis tadpoles exposed to clothianidin and thiamethoxam in two concentrations each, 100 ppm and 20 ppm. Gene expression was generated from brains and livers, and liver cells provided metabolic activity data.

This dataset provides the data associated with a 2015 project to examine factors affecting the occupancy of Gulf Coast Waterdogs along Bayou Lacombe, Saint Tammany Parish, Louisiana. Data include site locations and distance from headwaters, water data (pH, turbidity, salinity, and depth), and capture data from trap checks. For Necturus beyeri captures, the datatset provides the sex of captures and length and mass measurements. The dataset states whether eggs were visible in females, whether each animal was swabbed for disease and whether tissue was clipped for genetics.
