Digital elevation models (DEMs) were created from aerial imagery collected between August 30 and September 2, 2019, along the North Carolina coast between the Virginia-North Carolina border vicinity and Cape Lookout, North Carolina. These DEMs were created to document ground conditions prior to Hurricane Dorian, which made landfall on the North Carolina coast on September 6, 2019. The digital elevation models (DEMs) help researchers estimate the land surface before Hurricane Dorian and were created to document inter-annual changes in shoreline position and coastal morphology in response to storm events using aerial imagery collections and a structure from motion (SFM) workflow. These data can be used with geographic...

RGB-averaged orthoimages were created from aerial imagery collected February 08 and 09, 2020, along the North Carolina coast between the Virginia-North Carolina border vicinity and Cape Lookout, North Carolina. These RGB-averaged orthoimages were created to document recovery ground conditions after Hurricane Dorian, which made landfall on the North Carolina coast on September 6, 2019. The RGB-averaged orthoimages help researchers document inter-annual changes in shoreline position and coastal morphology in response to storm events using aerial imagery collections and a structure from motion (SFM) workflow. These data can be used with geographic information systems or other software to identify topographic and shallow-water...

This portion of the USGS data release presents digital elevation models (DEMs) derived from bathymetric and topographic surveys conducted on the Elwha River delta, Washington, in April 2014 (USGS Field Activity Number 2014-620-FA). Nearshore bathymetry data were collected using two personal watercraft (PWCs) equipped with single-beam echosounders and survey-grade global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. Topography data were collected on foot with survey-grade GNSS receivers mounted on backpacks. Positions of the survey platforms were referenced to a GNSS base station placed on a benchmark with known horizontal and vertical coordinates relative to the North American Datum of 1983 (CORS96 realization)...

The elevation contours in this dataset have a 2-foot (ft) interval and were derived from a digital elevation model (DEM) of beach topography and near-shore bathymetry of Minnesota Point near the Duluth Entry of Lake Superior, Duluth, Minnesota. The DEM has a 10-meter (m; 32.8084 feet) cell size and was created from a LAS dataset of terrestrial light detection and ranging (lidar) data representing the beach topography, and single-beam and multibeam sonar data representing the bathymetry. The survey area extended approximately 0.85 kilometers (0.5 miles) offshore, for an approximate 1.87 square kilometer surveyed area. Lidar data were collected using a boat mounted Velodyne VLP-16 unit. Multibeam sonar data were collected...

This portion of the USGS data release presents bathymetry data collected during surveys performed on the Elwha River delta, Washington in August 2011 (USGS Field Activity Number W-06-11-PS). Bathymetry data were collected using two personal watercraft (PWCs), each equipped with single-beam sonar systems and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. The PWC sonar systems consisted of an Odom Echotrac CV-100 single-beam echosounder and 200 kHz transducer with a 9° beam angle. Raw acoustic backscatter returns were digitized by the echosounder with a vertical resolution of 1.25 cm. Depths from the echosounders were computed assuming a sound velocity profiles of 1,483 m/s. Positioning of the survey vessels...

Multichannel sparker (MCS) seismic-reflection data were collected along the Queen Charlotte-Fairweather Fault between Cross Sound and Dixon Entrance, offshore southeastern Alaska from 2016-05-17 to 2016-06-12. Data were collected aboard the Alaska Department of Fish and Game R/V Medeia, and recorded using a 32 channel GeoEel digital streamer, an Applied Acoustics power supply, and a SIG SLP 790 Sparker Electrode. MCS profiles were collected coincident with multibeam data collected at higher survey speeds (5-6 knots), which reduced the MCS data quality.

This dataset consists of two files containing northing, easting, and elevation ("XYZ") information for light detection and ranging (lidar) data representing the beach and near-shore topography of Minnesota Point near the Superior Entry of Lake Superior, Duluth, Minnesota. The point data is the same as that in the LAS dataset used to create a digital elevation model (DEM) of the approximately 2.27 square kilometer surveyed area. Lidar data were collected using a boat mounted Velodyne unit. Multibeam sonar data were collected using a Norbit integrated wide band multibeam system compact (iWBMSc) sonar unit. Single-beam sonar data were collected using a Ceescope sonar unit. All elevation data were collected September...

This portion of the USGS data release presents topography data collected during surveys performed in the Columbia River littoral cell, Washington and Oregon, in 2023 (USGS Field Activity Number 2023-644-FA). Topographic profiles were collected by walking along survey lines with global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers mounted on backpacks. Prior to data collection, vertical distances between the GNSS antennas and the ground were measured using a tape measure. Hand-held data collectors were used to log raw data and display navigational information allowing surveyors to navigate survey lines spaced at 100- to 1000-m intervals along the beach. Profiles were surveyed from the landward edge of the study area...

In February 2016 the University of Washington in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (USGS, PCMSC) collected multibeam bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data in Catalina Basin aboard the University of Washington's Research Vessel Thomas G. Thompson. Data was collected using a Kongsberg EM300 multibeam echosounder hull-mounted to the 274-foot R/V Thomas G. Thompson. The USGS, PCMSC processed these data and produced a series of bathymetric surfaces and acoustic-backscatter images for scientific research purposes. This data release page provides a 10-m resolution bathymetry surface and a 10-m resolution shaded relief bathymetry image as well as FGDC metadata describing...
