The US Geological Survey Chesapeake Bay Watershed Land Cover Data Series, 2011 edition, (CBLCD-e11) consists of Level I Land Cover data for the years 1984, 1992, 2001, 2006 and 2011. It consists of a series of five 8-bit unsigned integer raster data files of 30 meter spatial resolution in Albers Conic Equal Area projection, NAD83 datum. The 1984 – 2006 data layers were created by aggregating most Level II Anderson classes of the USGS CBLCD Land Cover Data Series released in 2010 (Irani and Claggett, 2010).

Investigations of coastal change and coastal resources often require continuous elevation profiles from the seafloor to coastal terrestrial landscapes. Differences in elevation data collection in the terrestrial and marine environments result in separate elevation products that may not share a vertical datum. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads, and changes in loads, in rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have been calculated using monitoring data from the nine Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring (RIM) stations for the period 1985 through 2015. Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WRTDS (Weighted Regression on Time, Discharge, and Season). Data release contains two shapefiles related to poultry houses on the Delmarva Peninsula (Delaware, Eastern Shore Maryland and, Eastern Shore Virginia). One dataset is a polygon shapefile representing 6013 poultry houses identified using 2016 and 2017 aerial imagery from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Aerial Imagery Program (NAIP). The second dataset is a point shapefile of inactive houses which displayed similar characteristics to the active houses except were overgrown or in a state of disrepair (in some cases only the building's footprint remains).

The CBTN_v5 and CBTP_v5 SPARROW models were developed to support inferences about causes of observed changes in nitrogen and phosphorus (respectively) fluxes in Chesapeake Bay tributaries between 1992 and 2012. The core equations of the SPARROW model (Schwarz and others, 2006) were implemented in differential form using the R programming language (R Core Team, 2017), as the basis of a tool for empirically relating a regional pattern of changes in constituent flux, over a multi-year period, to spatially referenced changes in explanatory variables over the same period. A pilot implementation was developed to explore factors influencing changes in flow-normalized flux of total nitrogen over the period 1990-2010 at 43 sites in the non-tidal Chesapeake Bay watershed. Model inputs, outputs, and code are included in this data release, and are described below.

The detrimental effects of excess nutrients and sediment entering the Chesapeake Bay estuary from its watersheds have necessitated regulatory actions. Federally-mandated reductions are apportioned to bay jurisdictions based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Time-Variable Watershed Model (CBPM). This data set is comprised of five files related to the modification and scoring of Index of Waterbird Community Integrity (IWCI) scores for all waterbirds of the Chesapeake Bay. One Excel file (A) contains a list of 100+ Chesapeake waterbird species and their species attribute and IWCI scores. Another Excel file (B) contains case study data from recent surveys of breeding and migratory waterbirds in Chesapeake Bay and shoreline delineations across a disturbance gradient that were used to demonstrate the utility of the modified index. Finally, three supplemental files include an Access database (C), R code (D) and a protocol (E) for running the complex steps to calculate index scores.

This data release provides ancillary data that describe potential nutrient sources and processes for total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) annual loads for 84 water-quality sites within the Chesapeake Bay. The purpose of the study for which these data were developed is to test causal hypotheses, using structural equation models, related to the drivers of TN and TP load in the Chesapeake Bay over the period 1985-2012. This dataset is comprised of 3 .csv files related to the use of unmanned aerial systems over waterbird colonies. Specifically, data detail the disturbance observed in birds during flights, the time required for traditional ground surveys to be conducted, and the distance at which birds flush during traditional ground surveys.
Data release contains 1710 polygons representing small bodies of water within 500 meters of poultry feeding operations on the Delmarva Peninsula. Ponds were identified using the USDA's National Agriculture Imagery Program's 2016 and 2017 products. Poultry feeding operations were described in location by Soroka and Duren (2020).
