This interactive workshop was designed to provide background information and stimulate discussion on the effects of climate variability, possible natural and human-related long-term climate change, and land-use change in the rapidly-growing southwestern United States. This information will be used by the U.S. Global Change Research Program as part of a national assessment of Global Change issues. This web conference was open for interactive participation from Monday, July 7 through Friday, July 25, 1997. The articles and comments will remain available indefinitely.
NPS is transforming the way natural resource information is managed and delivered to parks, partners, and the public. "IRMA," the Integration of Resource Management Applications, is the name given to the project that is guiding this transformation. The Natural Resource Information Portal (http://nrinfo.nps.gov) is the gateway to the project's results. NRInfo is the beginning steps towards having a "one-stop" for data and information on park-related natural resources. From the portal you can search for, view, and download documents, reports, publications, data sets, park species lists, and links to additional data sources. No logins or passwords are needed.

PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model) is a unique knowledge-based system that uses point measurements of precipitation, temperature, and other climatic factors to produce continuous, digital grid estimates of monthly, yearly, and event-based climatic parameters. Continuously updated, this unique analytical tool incorporates point data, a digital elevation model, and expert knowledge of complex climatic extremes, including rain shadows, coastal effects, and temperature inversions. PRISM data sets are recognized world-wide as the highest-quality spatial climate data sets currently available. PRISM is the USDA's official climatological data.

This web site houses the quick guides, worksheets, and templates developed as part of a project focused on helping practitioners integrate climate change into Habitat Conservation Planning under the Endangered Species Act. It also includes a spreadsheet with information on existing HCPs that have addressed climate change. All guides and worksheets are freely downloadable.
