The Interactive Catchment Explorer (ICE) is a dynamic visualization interface for exploring catchment characteristics and environmental model predictions. ICE was created for resource managers and researchers to explore complex, multivariate environmental datasets and model results, to identify spatial patterns related to ecological conditions, and to prioritize locations for restoration or further study. ICE incorporates stream temperature and brook trout occurrence models for headwaters of the Northeast, including projections of the potential effects of climate change. ICE is part of the Spatial Hydro-Ecological Decision System (SHEDS).
Multi-season satellite imagery (Landsat ETM+) from 1999-2001 were used in conjunction with digital elevation model (DEM) derived datasets (e.g. elevation, landform, aspect, etc.) to model natural and semi-natural vegetation. Landcover classes are drawn from NatureServe's Ecological System concept, with 109 of the 125 total classes mapped at the system level. For the majority of classes, a decision tree classifier was used to discriminate landcover types, while a minority of classes (e.g. urban classes, sand dunes, burn scars, etc.) were mapped using other techniques. Twenty mapping areas, each characterized by similar ecological and spectral characteristics, were modeled independently of one another. These mapping...
In September 2013 the Springs Stewardship Institute received funding from the BOR to map springs and springs-dependent species in the DLCC. Since then we have configured our server, migrated our geodatabase to an ArcSDE, and published several WMS and WFS to our domain at https://arcgis.springsdata.org/arcgis/rest/services . This includes a WMS of springs in the DLCC that we have also made available through ArcGIS Online at http://bit.ly/1k6zo7p . We have also migrated our non-spatial survey data to an online application at http://springsdata.org/index.php . This is a user-friendly interface for a MySQL database that includes georeferencing, geomorphology, flow, flora, fauna, water quality, and condition assessment...

As part of a suite of aquatic habitat assessments and tools designed to support conservation efforts in the Northeast region, the environmental consulting firm Downstream Strategies developed predictive models for estuarine habitat in Narragansett Bay and Long Island Sound, using winter flounder as the focal species to pilot the approach. This study describes the development of a flexible modeling process that can help scientists better understand the distribution, status, threats, and relative abundance of resources in dynamic aquatic habitats. The winter flounder results are built into the Fish Habitat Decision Support Tool website. The website also includes tutorial videos and additional help.

This product results from one of 5 subprojects of the North Atlantic LCC funded NROC project, “Demonstrations & Science Delivery Networks for Coastal Resilience Information in the Northeast”. Coastal storm and flood risk data were generated through the North Atlantic Coast Comprehensive Study (NAACS), an initative of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In order to make this data widely available, the Northeast Regional Ocean Council (NROC) funded the development of a database and web services that provide streamlined access to high-resolution data on coastal storm and flood risk in the Northeast. Produced by a team from RPS ASA, the database includes projections for future climate scenarios and is a valuable resource...
