We produced this data set as part of a larger, integrated study to assess the statuses of populations of Anaxyrus canorus and the causes of observed effects on fitness at field sites, primarily in Yosemite National Park near Tioga Pass, from 1996 to 2001. ENCLOSURES We used field enclosures to test the hypothesis that exposure to ambient UV-B caused embryo mortality in 1996 and 1998. We covered the top of each enclosure with one or two types of thin plastic sheeting. One type was transparent to the solar spectrum. The other type filtered UV-B below 314 nm (UV-B<314) but was otherwise transparent to solar radiation. This data represents areas of forest damage due to insect infestation, fire, flood, landslides, windthrow and other mortalities. The information was collected by aerial surveys by both the USFS and ADNR, Div. of Forestry in cooperation with the Forest Health Protection (FHP) project. Surveys are conducted in July and August so that pest "signatures" may be obtained during the optimal period for symptom development of ocular estimation. The aerial survey is coordinated with known pest outbreaks so that the maximum extent of recent bark beetle damage (fading trees) and insect defoliation (discoloration, foliage loss) patterns may be determined. Aerial survey flights are termed as "local" if they can be completed...

We produced this data set as part of a larger, integrated study to assess the statuses of populations of Anaxyrus canorus and the causes of observed effects on fitness at field sites, primarily in Yosemite National Park near Tioga Pass, from 1996 to 2001. From 1999 to 2001, we deployed Optic StowAway Temperature loggers (Onset Computer Corporation; Bourne, Massachusetts, USA) to measure minimum daily air temperatures at various breeding sites during embryogenesis for A. canorus. The acquisition of host species distributions is a significant factor in the identification of areas at risk of mortality to a particular agent. The most readily-available forest type maps do not contain enough location-specific information for insect and disease risk assessments, in particular species' age and stocking. Spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV, species Carp sprivivirus), is considered one of the most lethal freshwater pathogens of cyprinid fish. Common carp Cyprinus carpio L. and koi C. carpio koi are the most susceptible host fish species. The virus was formally described in the 1960's after outbreaks occurred in carp species on the European continent, but there has been a global expansion of SVCV primarily in Asia and North America.
