This data set consists of polylines representing groundwater-level altitude contours, 1982, for middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada as published on plate 2, figure 3 in the U.S. Geological Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report 98-4209 titled "Hydrogeologic framework and ground-water levels, 1982 and 1996, middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada," 1999. A subset of the contours were published as part of a larger data set representing water-table contours for Nevada (Buto and others, 2006). The remaining contours have been added to complete this data set. This dataset presents tabular data and Excel workbooks used to analyze single-well aquifer tests in pumping wells and slug tests in monitoring wells near Long Canyon. The data also include pdf outputs from the analysis program, Aqtesolv (Duffield, 2007). The data are presented in two zipped files, (1) single-well aquifer tests in pumping wells and (2) slug tests in monitoring wells. The slug-test data were supplied by Newmont Mining Corporation and collected by Golder and Associates in 2011. The USGS and Newmont Mining Corp. surveyed 51 cross sections to determine hydraulic characteristics throughout 12 model reaches. The accuracy of the surveyed cross sections is believed to be +/- 0.5 ft. Field surveys included measuring the channel cross section up to the approximate altitude of the highest flood and includes auxiliary channels. Surveyed cross sections generally were at representative locations about every 3 miles along the Humboldt River channel. Data collected during the test include tabular pumping, subsurface loss from spring supplementation and aquifer-test discharge (ditch discharge), water-levels, and weather data.
