This is a terrestrial LiDAR laser scanner dataset of an intermittent waterway named Laguna Creek near the community of Dennehotso, AZ collected on June 2, 2020. The reach scanned for this study is located at the bridge where State Route 160 crosses the waterway. The river channel on the upstream side of the bridge has experienced bank erosion over recent years. A bank stabilization project was implemented by the Arizona Department of Transportation in 2018. This scan is intended to capture the condition of the bank in 2020 and be used to measure any changes to the bank protection that has occurred since the installation.. A Leica MS-60 Multistation was used for the laser scanner data collection. Multiple scans were...

Low-altitude (80-100 meters above ground level) digital images were obtained from a camera mounted on a 3DR Solo quadcopter, a small unmanned aerial system (UAS), along the Lake Ontario shoreline in New York during July 2017. These data were collected to document and monitor effects of high lake levels, including shoreline erosion, inundation, and property damage in the vicinity of Sodus Bay, New York. This data release includes images tagged with locations determined from the UAS GPS; tables with updated estimates of camera positions and attitudes based on the photogrammetric reconstruction; tables listing locations of the base stations, ground control points, and transect points; geolocated, RGB-colored point...

These are terrestrial laser scanner datasets collected in forested areas west of Flagstaff, Arizona in 2015 and 2016. For each of the two scanners, six treatment areas were scanned, with four of them overlapping one another (Figure 1). These data are composed of individual scans referenced to one another using reflective targets, and geolocated using differentially corrected GPS and RTK locations of scan locations (Figure 3). There were overall large differences in point density among the two scanners (Figure 2).

Bathymetric data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 2019 for approximately 2.2 square kilometers of the Nehalem Bay between the Highway 101 bridge and Nehalem Bay State Park (about 6.5 kilometers) near Wheeler, Oregon. The data were collected using a Trimble R8 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver combined with a Seafloor Systems Hydrolite TM single-beam 200 kilohertz echosounder mounted to a motorized boat. GPS positions received corrections in real time from the Oregon Real-Time GNSS Network. Sound velocity profiles were recorded at 19 different locations evenly spaced throughout the survey area using an AML Oceanographic Base X2 100 meter sound velocity profiler in order to quantify...

This dataset consists of one table with a record (row) for each goose location and columns containing location information and covariates. The dataset was used in an analysis of altitude selection and flight propensity in an accompanying paper (Weiser et al. 2024) and is being provided here to allow replication of that analysis. Goose locations (latitude, longitude, and altitude) were collected with GPS tags and represent three subspecies: Pacific Greater White-fronted Goose, Tule Greater White-fronted Goose, and Lesser Snow Goose. Covariates include weather information from ERA5 (Hersbach et al. 2022). In addition to the "used" locations (altitudes at which birds were recorded), the dataset also includes "available"...
This project uses bottom-up modeling at a parcel scale to measure the effects of sea-level rise (SLR) on coastal ecosystems and tidal salt marshes. At selected tidal marshes, the project team will measure several parameters that will be incorporated into ArcGIS models creating comparable datasets across the Pacific coast tidal gradient with a focus on 2-4 sites in the California LCC (e.g. San Diego, San Francisco Bay Refuges). The ultimate goal is to provide science support tools for local adaptation planning from the bottom-up that may be implemented under a structured decision-making framework.Science Delivery Phase (2013): The objectives are to: (1) Disseminate site-specific baseline data and modeling results,...

River bathymetry measurements were collected in 2017 and 2018 along the Willamette River, Oregon, between Eugene and Newberg. These data were collected to complement a bathymetric lidar dataset collected in 2017 for the same section of river. In many deeper segments of the river channel, bathymetric lidar did not produce measurements of river bathymetry. To fill gaps in the bathymetric lidar dataset, USGS combined bathymetry data previously collected in 2015 and 2016 with newly collected survey data from 2017 and 2018. The bathymetric survey data acquired in 2017 and 2018 focused on filling gaps within the 2017 bathymetric lidar dataset. Bathymetry data were collected using a network based real time kinematic global...

Low-altitude digital images were taken over an area of the Potomac River in Point of Rocks, Maryland using 3DR Solo unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) on October 24, 2019. The imagery was collected for the purpose of evaluating UAS assessment of river habitat data such as water depth, substrate type, and water clarity. Some photographs contain black and white targets used as ground control points (GCPs), which were surveyed by a field crew with a high-precision (GNSS) Global Navigation Satellite System and/or containing internal post processing kinematic (PPK) GPS system. This data release contains the csv files containing the latitude and longitude coordinates, in Universal Transverse Mercator Zone 18N referenced...
The dataset contains GPS survey data collected at Colorado River at Salt Wash near Moab, UT, as part of a surface velocity mapping effort. The survey was conducted on June 9, 2020, and documents ground control points for a small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) survey. The survey was performed using Leica GS14 RTK GPS equipment, S/N base-2806898, S/N rover-2806883.

Low-altitude (80-100 meters above ground level) digital images of Town Neck Beach in Sandwich, Massachusetts, were obtained from a camera mounted on a small unmanned aerial system (UAS; also known as a drone). Imagery was collected at close to low tide on seven days to observe changes in beach and dune morphology. The images were geolocated by using the single-frequency geographic positioning system aboard the UAS. Ground control points (GCPs) were established by using temporary targets on the ground, which were located by using a real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system (RTK-GNSS) base station and rovers. The GCPs can be used as constraints during photogrammetric processing. Transect points were collected...

Studies utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) telemetry rarely result in 100% fix success rates (FSR). Many assessments of wildlife resource use do not account for missing data, either assuming data loss is random or because a lack of practical treatment for systematic data loss. Several studies have explored how the environment, technological features, and animal behavior influence rates of missing data in GPS telemetry, but previous spatially explicit models developed to correct for sampling bias have been specified to small study areas, on a small range of data loss, or to be species-specific, limiting their general utility. Here we explore environmental effects on GPS fix acquisition rates across a wide...

The dataset contains data from two GPS surveys conducted after a flow event on September 8, 2020, at the USGS streamgage 09471580 - San Pedro River at St David, AZ. The first survey, conducted on October 14, 2020, documents CSA cross section geometry, CSA pin elevations, and high-water marks at CSA cross sections from the flow event in the CSA reach downstream from the gage (09471588 - San Pedro River below Dragoon Wash at St David, AZ). The second survey, conducted on December 8, 2020, documents CSA pin elevations and additional high-water marks in the CSA reach from the flow event on September 8, 2020, and the elevation of the thalweg from the CSA reach to the streamgage (09471580) at the bridge.

The purpose of this field data collection was to test and compare the OceanInsight HDX Mini Spectrometer as an accessible alternative against the more expensive ASD Fieldspec for collecting ground-based hyperspectral reflectance profiles for landcover analysis. The data collection took place in Dog Head Marsh and South Cape Beach within the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (WBNERR). The hyperspectral profiles were collected side-by-side with both field-spectrometers using comparable sensor collection settings for various ground cover samples. The terrain and vegetation type of these sample were described as well as surveyed using Real Time Kinematic Global Positioning System (RTK-GPS). This data...
