Collection of Geochemical Physical Samples from Indiana State Geologist Charles Deiss (1945-1959) combined the efforts of the Indiana Geological Survey and Indiana University Department of Geology shortly after the start of his tenure, establishing subject-specific research sections within the Survey. This collection contains crushed rock specimens created for use in various analyses, including X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, by members of the Geochemistry Section from 1947-1994. Specimen sources varied but primarily came from bedrock cores in the IGWS core library. Specimens are currently organized by sample ID.
