We have dated a boulder field in Zepp, VA using cosmogenic Be-10 exposure dating. Three samples taken from boulders at three elevations in the boulder field (804 m asl, 818 m asl, and 831 m asl) were processed at the Reston Cosmogenic Nuclide (RECON) Lab and measured via accelerator mass spectrometry at the Purdue Rare Isotope Measurement (PRIME) Lab. The results of this work are summarized in the file “Zepp_Exposure_Beryllium10_Odom.csv”. This file contains all relevant sample location data, as well as input variables for exposure age calculations. We employed the CRONUS v.3 exposure age calculator (Balco et al., 2008) to estimate exposure ages for these samples and report exposure ages derived using the LSDn time-dependent...

In May 2023, the U.S. Geological Survey provided training for bathymetric data acquisition and processing for the Iraq Ministry of Water Resources. The training included multibeam sonar theory, survey planning, data collection and processing, and dissemination. This data release presents the raw survey data, a digital elevation model (DEM), and a thalweg shapefile for three survey areas in the Pacific Northwest, USA (Mores Creek, Idaho; Columbia River, OR; Willamette River, OR). Additionally, metadata describes the processing steps, quality assurance and control, and an overall summary of each dataset. The bathymetry point cloud data were collected at selected study sites in the Pacific Northwest, U.S.A, May 2023...

In January 2020, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) began work on the Interstate 26 (I 26) highway widening project that involves a bridge crossing over the French Broad River (FBR) near Asheville, North Carolina. The U.S Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the NCDOT conducted a pre-construction bathymetric survey of the streambed in June 2019 (Whaling and Wagner, 2021) within a one-kilometer reach of the FBR at the bridge construction site. A canoe-based repeat bathymetric survey was collected with a single-beam echosounder approximately 30 months after construction began, with the purpose to monitor geomorphological changes to the streambed and inform the NCDOT of potential impacts...

This data release includes data created, collected, and/or otherwise modified in the process of quantifying a sediment budget for the Smith Creek Watershed near New Market, Virginia, USA. Five raster files are included, namely a modeled index of hydrological connectivity, a raster model of modeled floodplain depositional masses and extent, a rasters of modeled gross and delivered upland erosion, and a hydrologically conditioned Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Two vector shapefiles are also included. The first documents the results from the stepwise linear regression models developed to estimate erosion attributed to streambeds, streambanks, and floodplains along stream reaches throughout the watershed. The second...

This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Cumberland 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 2019 and 2023. The data were processed using geographic information systems (GIS) software. The data is projected in WGS 1984. This representation illustrates the terrain as a hillshade with contrast adjusted to highlight local relief according to a topographic position index (TPI) calculation.

This data release contains foreshore slopes for primarily open-ocean sandy beaches along the west coast of the United States (California, Oregon and Washington). The slopes were calculated while extracting shoreline position from lidar point cloud data collected between 2002 and 2011. The shoreline positions have been previously published, but the slopes have not. A reference baseline was defined and then evenly-spaced cross-shore beach transects were created. Then all data points within 1 meter of each transect were associated with each transect. Next, it was determined which points were one the foreshore, and then a linear regression was fit through the foreshore points. Beach slope was defined as the slope of...

In October 2023, the U.S. Geological Survey Idaho Water Science Center (IDWSC), in cooperation with Lucky Peak Power Plant Project (LPPPP), completed bathymetric and topographic surveys at two dam intake structures using multibeam bathymetry and boat-mounted Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). Dam operators indicated a possibility that sediment aggradation was occurring near the intake structures that allow water to pass through the dam. The bathymetric and topographic data generally include complete coverage near the intake structures and banklines near Lucky Peak Dam.
