Fiber-optic distributed temperature sensing (FO-DTS) cables were deployed along the sediment/water interface to map high spatial resolution temperature variations along the streambed. These variations are used to detect zones of groundwater discharge. Data are to be used in conjunction with electromagnetic imaging (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) data. The combined dataset represents point in time mapping of preferential groundwater discharge points (FO-DTS), and the bed structure that controls where these points are located (GPR, EMI).
This dataset consists of 42 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2017 in the Northwest Geysers, CA. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data as part of a project to image the heat source in the Northwest Geysers. Support was from the U.S. Geological Survey's Volcano Hazards Program.

The U.S. Geological Survey, along with scientists from Rutgers University, collected water chemistry, electromagnetic, redox-potential, dissolved oxygen, water flow rate, and water temperature data along stream and river corridors in multiple sub-watersheds of the East River Science Focus Area (SFA) near Crested Butte, CO. The concept of ‘river corridor’ science recognizes that the quality of flowing surface waters is intrinsically linked to their contributing catchments through hydrologic connectivity, including lower terrestrial hillslopes, floodplains, and riparian zones. Bidirectional river-floodplain exchange in particular can be critical to basin water storage and nutrient transformation dynamics, yet floodplain...

Regional surface elevation grid files (provided in Grid eXchange File format) were used to study crustal architecture beneath the Southern Midcontinent (USA) by McCafferty and others (2019). The study covered a rectangular, multi-state area of 924 by 924 kilometers centered on Missouri, and a corresponding volume extending from the topographic surface to a depth of 50 kilometers below sea level. The grid files (magnetic field observation surface, topographic surface, Precambrian basement surface, and Moho interface) were used to construct templates and initial physical property models for 3D inversions. A masked version of the Precambrian basement surface grid was used to remove inverted densities and magnetic susceptibilities...
This dataset includes magnetotelluric (MT) sounding data collected in July 2019 in the Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Along with geologic mapping, airborne magnetics, airborne electromagnetics, and audiomagnetotellurics, the USGS collected MT data at 24 sites along five profiles ranging from 2 to 5 kilometers in length: across Red Mountain of the Silverton caldera, within the caldera in Eureka Graben, across the south-eastern margin of the caldera along Arrastra Gulch, across the southern margin of the caldera along the western margin of Kendall Mountain, and across the south-western margin of the caldera along South Fork...
This dataset consists of 176 wideband magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected from 2015-2019 across parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) acquired these data as part of regional investigations into the geologic and tectonic framework of the area and to support mineral resource investigations. These data have been used to generate a 3D regional conductivity model of the area. Files included in this publication include measured electric- and magnetic-field time series as well as estimated impedance and vertical-magnetic field transfer functions. The data included here are for MT station wup515 in the Western Upper Peninsula survey region. A shapefile with...
Audiomagnetotelluric sounding data in the Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, 2019; Station AMTEG06
This dataset includes audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in July 2019 in the Silverton Caldera complex, Colorado, in the Southern Rocky Mountain Volcanic Field, by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Along with geologic mapping, airborne magnetics, airborne electromagnetics, and magnetotellurics, the USGS collected AMT data at 26 sites along five profiles ranging from 2 to 5 kilometers in length: across Red Mountain of the Silverton caldera, within the caldera in Eureka Graben, across the south-eastern margin of the caldera along Arrastra Gulch, across the southern margin of the caldera along the western margin of Kendall Mountain, and across the south-western margin of the caldera along South Fork...
In June 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) collected geophysical measurements to help evaluate the suitability of a proposed landfill site for disposing mine-waste materials in Fredericktown, Missouri. Geophysical methods were used to evaluate and characterize the unconsolidated sediment (i.e., regolith) above the crystalline bedrock as well as determine depth bedrock. Land-based geophysical methods included frequency domain electromagnetic induction (FDEM), electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio passive seismic (HVSR), and shear-wave seismic refraction. Water-borne methods included FDEM surveys to characterize...
These data are microgravity measurements collected at the summit of Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii. Data are collected using multiple instruments, with each file representing measurements from a specific instrument during a specific time period. The data dictionary explains the file format and contents, and the dataset will be updated as new measurements are collected.

Controlled source audio-frequency magnetotellurics (CSAMT) data were collected in the Grand Canyon West and Plain Tank Flat areas of the western Hualapai Reservation, Arizona, to better understand the hydrogeology of the area. CSAMT data provide vertical cross-section (profile) data about the resistivity of the subsurface, which may be related to lithologic boundaries and (or) grain-size distribution in the subsurface. CSAMT involves transmitting a current of electricity at various frequencies in one location, and measuring the magnetic response and electrical current between electrodes spaced along a receiver line several kilometers from the transmitter. Data were collected using a GGT-30 transmitter and GDP32-II...
The 2018 Update of the U.S. National Seismic Hazard Model defines the potential for earthquake ground shaking for various probability levels across the conterminous United States and is applied in seismic provisions of building codes, insurance rate structures, risk assessments, and other public policy. The updated model represents an assessment of the best available science in earthquake hazards and incorporates new findings on earthquake ground shaking, seismicity, and long-period amplification over deep sedimentary basins. The new model represents an update of the seismic hazard model; previous versions were developed in 1996, 2002, 2008, and 2014. The output from the National Seismic Hazard Model is a suite...
The West Fork of Dall Creek is located ~100km southwest of Coldfoot, AK along the Dalton Highway, south of the Brooks Range. Five ground penetrating radar (GPR) profiles were collected on 4/4/2019 at the West Fork of Dall Creek in interior Alaska. The West Fork of Dall Creek is composed of unburned black spruce forest with a burn scar from the 2004 Dall City Fire. All collected profiles, other than the Central Midpoint Survey (CMP), transect the burn scar between start and end locations in unburned black spruce forest. Data were collected with a Sensors and Software pulseEKKO pro unit and 100 mHz antennas. Four of the lines were conducted as common offset surveys with manual data collection that employed a consistent...
The significant rise in seismicity rates in Oklahoma and Kansas (OK–KS) in the last decade has led to an increased interest in studying induced earthquakes. Although additional instruments have been deployed in the region, there are still relatively few recordings at the distances (<20 km) and magnitudes (M4+) most relevant to earthquake hazard. In contrast, the USGS Did You Feel It? (DYFI) system has collected more than 200,000 observations during this period with 22,000+ observations at distances less than 20 km. This dataset has already been used to study the unique characteristics of induced earthquakes, to evaluate the extent of felt area, shaking, and damage, to compare intensity and ground motion metrics,...
