These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This feature class represents the southern extent of glacial deposits in the Williston Structural basin.

Between 27 and 11 kyr ago, during the last major (Naptowne) glaciation, the northwestern and western Kenai Peninsula and the Cook Inlet trough were covered by ice except for local nunataks and small refugia, like the Caribou Hills. Landforms related to four glacial stades are recognized and paleogeographic maps document ice limits, drainage systems, glacial-impounded lakes, and glaciomarine terraces. Numerous multidisciplinary studies of glacial, vegetation, and insect histories document Holocene climatic changes.
Data provided here describe geochemical correction of carbon-14 in dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) for groundwater age dating. Datasets include major ion chemistry of groundwater samples, model parameter inputs, and final corrected carbon-14 in DIC. Geochemical correction was completed in two phases: determination of reactive phase mole transfers through an inverse geochemical model (PHREEQC; Parkhurst and Appleo, 1992) and tracking of isotopic mass transfer among phases (NetpathXL; Parkhusrtand Charlton, 2008). This surficial-geologic map shows the distribution of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Faith Creek area in the Circle A-4, A-5, B-4, and B-5 quadrangles. This map was prepared principally by the interpretation of 1:63,360-scale, false-color, infrared aerial photographs taken in 1979 and 1981 and is locally verified by ground observations during field work in 2007.

The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) has conducted 1:63,360-scale geologic mapping of the Eagle A-1 Quadrangle.The area is part of the 100-year old Fortymile mining district and is located in eastern Alaska near the Alaska-Yukon border. This map illustrates the distribution of a variety of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrock in the Eagle A-1 Quadrangle, Fortymile mining district. This map is a compilation of previously unpublished and published data, as well as from updated field mapping. This publication offers a 1:125,000-scale map sheet accompanied by a booklet containing a summary of the geology, a colored terrane map, map unit descriptions, a summary table listing selected mineral deposits and energy resources, references, and a correlation of map units. The text (in the report) describes the geology and resource potential of a highly mineralized region centered in the Farewell silver-lead-zinc district southeast of McGrath. Potentially important coal resources flanking the Alaska Range are also described in the map area.
