This data layer summarizes ecological systems and land cover classes described in state-level and national-level maps as Broadly Defined Habitats for groups of species of conservation concern. Each grid cell in the raster is assigned a Condition Index value based on desired condition metrics using ancillary datasets and a decision tree approach for each assessed habitat. Grid cells are also assigned bar code descriptors indicating which metrics contributed to the Condition Index score for that cell. This layer also contains information about potential habitats based on the LANDFIRE Biophysical Settings data layer. This layer was developed to support the next iteration of the Conservation Blueprint developed by the...

This layer summarizes the Arkansas Terrestrial Broadly Defined Habitats Condition Index based on Condition Index Scores alone. Some users may be interested in the scores generated by the project and their habitat management implications. The symbology and map colors in this dataset represent that information. For descriptions of existing and potential habitat and per-pixel habitat condition and landscape configuration inputs to these scores, consult the Arkansas Broadly Defined Habitats with Condition Index and Barcode data layer, for which the map colors describe existing Broadly Defined Habitats.

This habitat model was developed to delineate suitable habitat for coastal cactus wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern California. A primary purpose of the model is to identify potential restoration sites that may not currently support cactus patches required by wrens, but which are otherwise highly suitable. These are areas that could be planted with cactus to increase wren populations, an important management objective for many land managers. We used the Partitioned Mahalanobis D2 modeling technique to construct alternative models with different combinations of environmental variables. Variables were calculated at each point in the center of a 150 m x 150 m cell in a grid of points across the landscape....

This layer was created from the Ecological Systems Map (ESM+, also called DSL Land) to highlight a number of habitat types specifically. We used the Summarize Zones function in ArcMap along with the Protected Areas Dataset and the ESM+ layer to identify the extent and protection status of all ecological systems (macrogroup level) across the 4 northeast states of NY, VT, NH, and ME. We also used information on potential habitats for Regional Species of Greatest Conservation Need (RSGCN) for these 4 states from a prior crosswalk of ESM+ macrogroups with Natureserve habitat types completed by Glennon and Curran (2013). The following habitat types were identified as (1) making up less than 10% of NYS (most are <...

Priority resources are the set of biological, ecological, and cultural features and ecological processes collaboratively identified as most important or most significant for the focus geography. These resources embody the key components of the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative (PFLCC) vision, which is a collective vision that reflects the mission, vision, common interests, and values of the focus geography partners. The priority resources are the focus of the PFLCC’s planning, design and implementation of conservation strategies(Benscoter et al. 2015). In Spring 2015, PFLCC’s Steering committee unanimously voted to adopt the SWAP ( the Florida State Wildlife Action Plan) habitats as the basis...
