Data set contains depth and velocity grids centerpoints generated from hydrodynamic model (SRH-2D) simulations run for a range of discharges. Date range corresponds to month(s) that bathymetric survey was performed. Three study reaches were considered in this analysis: the Fairview reach of the Yellowstone River, MT, the Miami and Lisbon-Jameson reaches of the Lower Missouir River. Data and application are described in detail in accompanying journal article (Erwin et al., 2017).
Data were collected in June 2016 as part of a dye-trace experiment in the Missouri River downstream from Fort Peck Dam, Montana, USA. Fluorometers were deployed at 8 measurement stations over a 135-km study reach. Approximately 51 L of Rhodamine WT (RWT) dye was injected on 26 June 2016 at 14:30 MDT. The injection occured along a transect located approximately 3000 meters downstream from the confluence of the Milk and Missouri Rivers. Injection was performed via a gravity-feed system and was complete within seven minutes of initaition. Freshwater fish are among the most vulnerable taxa to climate change globally but are generally understudied in tropical island ecosystems. Climate change is predicted to alter the intensity, frequency, and variability of extreme flow events on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. These changes may impact Caribbean native and non-native stream ecosystems and biota complex ways. We compiled an extensive dataset of native and non-native fish assemblages collected at 119 sites across Puerto Rico from 2005 to 2015. Digital flood-inundation maps for a 7.5-mile reach of the White River at Noblesville, Indiana, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Transportation. Data on diurnal variation in wetland methane flux were collected to 1) improve understanding of short-term, mechanistic drivers of methane flux, and 2) inform sampling protocols to achieve research objectives. An automated gas flux sampling system was used to measure methane flux every 2.5–4 hours for over 230 diel cycles over the course of three growing seasons (2013–2015). Data were collected from a seasonal, depressional wetland located in the Prairie Pothole Region of central North America. These data directly support the associated publication “Diurnal patterns of methane flux from a depressional, seasonal wetland: mechanisms and methodology” which is referenced within the Metadata.

The development and the generation of the datasets that are published through this data release, were based on the results and findings of the report mentioned here: Kim, M.H., 2018, Flood-inundation maps for the Wabash River at Lafayette, Indiana: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2018–5017, 10 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20185017. The geospatial dataset contain final versions of the raster and vector geospatial data and its related metadata, and the model archive dataset contains all relevant files to document and re-run the surface-water (SW) hydraulic model that are discussed in the report.

In 2021 and 2022, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR), drilled and constructed well SEP 16 (431900112593601) approximately 6 miles south-southeast of Big Southern Butte in Butte County, Idaho.
