To assess the distribution, frequency, and global extent of riverine hypoxia, we compiled 118 million paired dissolved oxygen (DO) and water temperature measurements from 125,158 unique locations in rivers in 93 countries and territories across the globe. The dataset also includes site characteristics derived from StreamCat, the National Hydrography and HydroAtlas datasets and proximal land cover derived from MODIS-based IGBP land cover types compiled using Google Earth Engine (GEE).
Resting metabolic rate of pygmy rabbits (0.89 ml 02 g-1 h-1) was high compared to other eutherian mammals, but not unusual among lagomorphs. The estimated size of the zone of thermoneutrality was ca. 8-90C, with the lower critical temperature occurring between 15 and 200C, depending on body mass. Minimum thermal conductance was lower and mean body temperature was higher than predicted for similarly sized mammals. Body temperature fluctuated > 1?C within a 24-h period, but showed no circadian patterns. Pygmy rabbits are thermally stressed during harsh winters in Wyoming, but low thermal conductance, a highenergy source of food, and favorable microenvironments enhance survival. Here we archive data collected during a nitrogen addition field experiment in the Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel. Calcium nitrate was added on 8 dates to a segment of the ship channel centered at Navigation Light 74. Prior to and following the nutrient additions, we collected water samples and sensor-based measurements at 7 sites between Navigation Light 70 and 76. Water samples for nutrient analyses were collected in 500 mL High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) amber containers from 1 m and 8 m depths using a peristaltic pump. Whole water samples for phytoplankton analysis were collected from 1 m depth in 500 mL clear HDPE containers and immediately preserved with 20 mL of Lugol’s iodine solution (Lugol’s,...

This dataset provides timeseries of model input and output data and is part of a larger data release of inputs and outputs from a model to predict light at the stream surface and within the water column for 173 streams and rivers across the continental United States. The complete release contains model input data, modeled estimates of light at the stream surface and within the water column, and modeled estimates of gross primary productivity.

This dataset provides a common validation set for estimates of gross primary productivity. This data represents a subset of all predictions made in the model inputs and outputs that were converted to GPP based on a light use efficiency. The data was subsetted for only days were all light estimates could be produced. This dataset is part of a larger data release of inputs and outputs from a model to predict light at the stream surface and within the water column for 173 streams and rivers across the continental United States. The complete release contains model input data, modeled estimates of light at the stream surface and within the water column, and modeled estimates of gross primary productivity.

This data release comprises 4 datasets used to measure the field metabolic rate, body composition, foraging success, behavior, and movement patterns of 9 female polar bears on the sea ice of the Beaufort Sea in April, 2014-2016 as well as 1 dataset used to measure the energetic cost of resting in an adult female polar bear at the San Diego Zoo, San Diego, CA. Wild bears were dosed with and had their blood analyzed for oxygen-18 and deuterium concentrations, equipped with GPS-enabled satellite video camera collars with tri-axial accelerometers, and blood was measured for serum urea and creatinine levels. The bear at the San Diego Zoo had her oxygen consumption measured while resting in a metabolic chamber.

This dataset provides information on site identifiers, location information, and model parameters. The format is a tab-delimted file with 1 row per site.
This dataset is one table with time-linked behavior data derived from video camera collars on polar bears on land near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Eighteen polar bears were equipped with video-camera collars (Vertex Plus collar with camera option, Vectronic Aerospace GmbH, Berlin, Germany) for 19 - 23 days in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

NOTE: This data release has been deprecated. Updated version is available: Reed, A.P, 2021, Modeled Stream Metabolism in Boulder Creek near Boulder, CO (2016 - 2018): U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P991TMNQ. The data presented here was collected in the lower basin of Boulder Creek at an elevation of 1562 meters and 40.05166667 latitude, -105.1783333 longitude. Seasonal and annual variations in discharge are dominated by snowmelt events and water management practices. The data includes date sample collected, discharge (cubic meter per second), stream depth (meters), dissolved oxygen concentration (milligrams per liter), theoretical dissolved oxygen concentration at 100% saturation...
