This dataset depicts the Level I ecological regions of North America, as compiled by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC). These draft files of of Level I, II, and III ecological regions of North America are an update and revision of files developed by Canada, the United States, and Mexico in the late 1990's in a cooperative project for the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC 1997). The NABat sampling frame is a grid-based finite-area frame spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico consisting of N total number of 10- by 10-km (100-km2) grid cell sample units for the continental United States, Canada, and Alaska and 5- by 5-km (25km2) for Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Polygon locations of fire perimeters in the Sky Island mountain ranges in the Madrean Archipelago Ecoregion of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. These fires occurred from 1985 to 2017 and were mapped using Landsat satellite imagery.
Natural cave passages penetrating a coastal aquifer in the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) were accessed to test the hypothesis that chemoclines associated with salinity gradients (haloclines) within the flooded cave networks of the karst subterranean estuary are sites of methane oxidation. Two field trips were carried out to the fully-submerged cave system located 6.6 km inland from the coastline in January 2015 and January 2016. The Critical Minerals in Archived Mine Samples Database (CMDB) contains chemistry and geologic information for historic ore and ore-related rock samples from mineral deposits in the United States. This data package includes two folders of data from Pacific Black Brant (Branta bernicla nigricans) during winter and migration periods. One folder has data from brant wintering along the Baja California Peninsula and Sonoran coasts of Mexico. These data were compiled for evaluating plant water use, or river-reach level evapotranspiration (ET) data, in the riparian corridor of the Colorado River delta as specified under Minute 319 of the 1944 Water Treaty.
