The Total Petroleum System is used in the National Assessment Project and incorporates the Assessment Unit, which is the fundamental geologic unit used for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Total Petroleum System is shown here as a geographic boundary defined and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates not only the set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations, but also the geologic interpretation of the essential elements and processes within the petroleum system that relate to source, generation, migration, accumulation, and trapping of the discovered and undiscovered petroleum resource(s).

Daily lake surface temperatures estimates for 185,549 lakes across the contiguous United States from 1980 to 2020 generated using an entity-aware long short-term memory deep learning model. In-situ measurements used for model training and evaluation are from 12,227 lakes and are included as well as daily meteorological conditions and lake properties. Median per-lake estimated error found through cross validation on lakes with in-situ surface temperature observations was 1.24 °C. The generated dataset will be beneficial for a wide range of applications including estimations of thermal habitats and the impacts of climate change on inland lakes.

This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Paleogene mid-crustal intrusions in the Ruby Mountains Metamorphic Core Complex, northeastern Nevada' [IP-153033], to be published in Geosphere, as well as planned future publications in this region. The data encompass U-Pb zircon age and trace element data and whole-rock Pb, Sr, and Nd isotopic data from igneous and metamorphic rocks throughout the Ruby Mountains, East Humboldt Range, Lizzies Basin, Lamoille Canyon, and Angel Lake areas of northeast, Nevada. Samples were collected from this area by Allen McGrew (Univ. of Dayton), Arthur Snoke (Univ. of Wyoming), Wayne Premo (USGS) and Keith Howard (USGS), who brought them to the USGS Denver for analysis. The analyses...

Lake temperature is an important environmental metric for understanding habitat suitability for many freshwater species and is especially useful when temperatures are predicted throughout the water column (known as temperature profiles). In this data release, multiple modeling approaches were used to generate predictions of daily temperature profiles for thousands of lakes in the Midwest. Predictions were generated using two modeling frameworks: a machine learning model (specifically an entity-aware long short-term memory or EA-LSTM model; Kratzert et al., 2019) and a process-based model (specifically the General Lake Model or GLM; Hipsey et al., 2019). Both the EA-LSTM and GLM frameworks were used to generate...

7 aerial photographs were taken along the Little Missouri River in 1949. All images were geo-referenced to the 1995 digital orthophoto quarter quadrangles as described by Miller and Friedman (2009). Both the flood plain and active channel of the river were delineated on the 1995 digital orthophoto quadrangles and overlaid on rectified photos. ArcGIS was used to draw the polygons that delineate the flood plain and active channel; the delineation was saved as a SHP file. The separate images (geoTIFFs) can be viewed as a composite along with that year's channel delineation (SHP file) using a geographic information system (GIS) application. The CED has had success in tracking implementation of conservation actions for terrestrial at-risk species, and can develop systems to monitor the implementation of and inform effectiveness of conservation, restoration, and recovery actions for aquatic at-risk species as well. Pursuant to the Regional Priority Goal to Recover listed cutthroat trout and improve or maintain the conservation status of other cutthroat trout and Arctic grayling populations, the CED Team proposes to develop a framework and modules that displays important resource layers/values important for biological planning and conservation design in addition to collecting information about recovery actions that may improve habitat and/or reduce threats...

Multiple modeling frameworks were used to predict daily temperatures at 0.5m depth intervals for a set of diverse lakes in the U.S. states of South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Process-Based (PB) models were configured and calibrated with training data to reduce root-mean squared error. Uncalibrated models used default configurations (PB0; see Winslow et al. 2016 for details) and no parameters were adjusted according to model fit with observations. Process-Guided Deep Learning (PGDL) models were deep learning models with an added physical constraint for energy conservation as a loss term. These models were pre-trained with uncalibrated Process-Based model outputs (PB0) before training...

This dataset accompanies planned publication 'Lava-ice interactions at late Pleistocene trachyte-basaltic andesite fissure eruptions, Quetrupillán Volcanic Complex (39°30′ S, 71°43′ W), southern Chile', as well as planned future publications on this volcanic complex. The Ar/Ar data and the Pb, Sr, and Nd data are for basalt and trachyte lava flows at Quetrupillán volcano. The Ar geochronology and isotope geochemistry will aid in the understanding of the timing of eruptive activity and glacial damming of lava flows, and magma source compositions studied in the planned publications. Samples were collected from Quetrupillán volcano by Dave McGarvie (Univ. of Lancaster, UK) and Isla Simmons (Univ. of Edinburgh, UK),...

Pollinator surveys are currently being conducted in North Dakota, but we are lacking data in other areas. Given likely petitions on the horizon, having baseline data for pollinators will be essential for an informed response. Additionally, these data will be important for habitat prioritization. Given the complexity and difficulty for comprehensive identification of all key pollinators and the urgency of threatened petitions, initial projects should likely focus on bees and butterflies. Results of these surveys will also help guide where and how to sample several at risk species in different habitat types across several states. Ultimately this information could inform a national pollinator survey database development.PI:...

Aerial photographs were taken along the Little Missouri River in 2003, however the 2003 IKONOS satellite imagery is proprietary and therefore cannot be served here. The channel delineations for all years, including 2003, and the delineation of the outer flood-plain boundary are stored as shapefiles and are included in this data release. All images were geo-referenced to the 1995 digital orthophoto quarter quadrangles as described by Miller and Friedman (2009). Understanding the current risk of the threat of invasive annual grasses to the sagebrush ecosystem is needed for biological planning and conservation design of appropriate conservation delivery mechanisms that will enhance and maintain priority wildlife species of conservation concern. Current efforts with partners have developed a 250 m near-real time herbaceous annual percent cover map in western portion of the ecosystem for identifying wildfire risk but this effort needs to be expanded to the eastern portion of the biome. In addition, localized detailed information is needed at 30m scale for increased accuracy of identifying the degree and extent of invasions. This information at the landscape scale will facilitate...

The RCMAP (Rangeland Condition Monitoring Assessment and Projection) dataset quantifies the percent cover of rangeland components across the western U.S. using Landsat imagery from 1985-2020. The RCMAP product suite consists of eight fractional components: annual herbaceous, bare ground, herbaceous, litter, non-sagebrush shrub, perennial herbaceous, sagebrush, shrub and rule-based error maps including the temporal trends of each component. Several enhancements were made to the RCMAP process relative to prior generations. We used an updated version of the 2016 base training data, with a more aggressive forest mask and reduced shrub and sagebrush cover bias in pinyon-juniper woodlands. We pooled training data in areas...
