This map layer consists of federally owned or administered lands of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the most part, only areas of 320 acres or more are included; some smaller areas deemed to be important or significant are also included. There may be private inholdings within the boundaries of Federal lands in this map layer. Some established Federal lands which are larger than 320 acres are not included in this map layer, because their boundaries were not available from the owning or administering agency.

This map layer shows Indian lands of the United States. For the most part, only areas of 320 acres or more are included; some smaller areas deemed to be important or significant are also included. Federally-administered lands within a reservation are included for continuity; these may or may not be considered part of the reservation and are simply described with their feature type and the administrating Federal agency. Some established Indian lands which are larger than 320 acres are not included in this map layer because their boundaries were not available from the owning or administering agency.

This is part of a 3-tiered dataset consisting ofIDS_shapes: footprint polygon featuresIDS_attrib: attribute descriptions of polygonsIDS_rollup: lookup information for features that are summarized as a group (rollup)This dataset is a compilation of forest insect, disease and abiotic damage mapped by aerial detection surveys on forested areas in the United States. At this time, the National Aerial Survey Data Standards require only mortality and defoliation data be collected and reported. However, many cooperators collect data on other types of damage and therefore, the national database has been designed to accommodate these data. Low-level flights, typically 1,000 to 2,000 feet above ground level, are used to map...

Land & Resource Management Plan (L&RMP) Land Suitability Class This is a derived layer of forestland capability, suitability and availability for timber production. Water is assigned census or non-census water using the water bodies layer. Land is assigned to forest or non-forest using existing vegetation. Forestland both capable (productive) and other (non-productive) forestland, as well as non-forest are determined by CALVEG types (TABLE 38). Each CALVEG type is assigned a forest productivity code (TABLE 43). Suitability information is derived from productive forest CALVEG types that are available, minus the unsuitable forestlands (UNSU). Availability (TABLE 11) is derived by determining all forestland from CALVEG...

RecSitePoint gives point locations of recreation sites such as trailheads and campgrounds. Initially, the data were derived from points reviewed for the Recreation Sites Asset Management Plan in November 2005. Items in the attribute table are compliant with the June 30, 2004 GIS Data Dictionary. Updates are on-going. Control numbers can be used to link spatial data to records in INFRA.

This data set shows the national forest and ranger district boundaries in Montana, and national forest land that is outside the forest boundaries. It does not distinguish among federal, state, and private lands that are inside the forest boundaries. For actual land ownership, see http://nris.mt.gov/nsdi/nris/ab105.html. In the Arc/Info coverage version of this data, National forests are represented by a 'region.forest' feature class and ranger districts by a 'region.district' feature class. In the shapefile version, each polygon has a field for the forest and district name and attributes of the districts in its attribute table, and there is an additional table called forests.dbf that contains information about...

NWFP-20 - Northwest Forest Plan Effectiveness Monitoring (20-Year Report)Estimated completion June 2015This project is a continuation of research completed for the 15-year Report for NWFP Effectiveness Monitoring. We are continuing to develop and refine modeling techniques and data, to provide improved multi-date GNN maps of forest vegetation and older forest. Key improvements to GNN modeling to be implemented in this project are: (1) addition of more inventory plots, with yearly matching of plots to LandTrendr imagery for model development; (2) incorporation of measures of disturbance history, derived from LandTrendr algorithms, as spatial predictors; (3) improved GNN outlier analysis using TimeSync; and (4) additional...

This GIS coverage displays range allotment permit boundaries, which are also analysis areas used for analysis of the 1986 Forest Plan. Many of these allotments are not being grazed by livestock at this time. This dataset does not include interior pasture fences or improvements.

This GIS coverage displays all five districts of the Shoshone National Forest. The five districts making up the Shoshone National Forest are Clarks Fork, Greybull, Wapiti, Wind River and Washakie. Each District is managed by a district ranger and staff of resource specialists.

These data display national forest and ranger district boundaries for Region 1, 2 and 4. Note that many private and state-owned parcels lie within the national forest boundaries depicted in these data. Note that these data do not conform entirely with official national forest boundaries: (1) the boundaries included here have been expanded to encompass national forest system lands that lie outside of the official forest boundary and (2) many small and discrete polygons that have no national forest ownership but were (and are) included in the officially designated forest boundary are not included in these data. To obtain actual boundaries use most accurate land management data layer.

This GIS coverage displays the exterior boundary of the Shoshone National Forest. These lands are managed by the United States Department of Agriculture, Shoshone National Forest.
