This map layer consists of federally owned or administered lands of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the most part, only areas of 320 acres or more are included; some smaller areas deemed to be important or significant are also included. There may be private inholdings within the boundaries of Federal lands in this map layer. Some established Federal lands which are larger than 320 acres are not included in this map layer, because their boundaries were not available from the owning or administering agency.

This map layer shows Indian lands of the United States. For the most part, only areas of 320 acres or more are included; some smaller areas deemed to be important or significant are also included. Federally-administered lands within a reservation are included for continuity; these may or may not be considered part of the reservation and are simply described with their feature type and the administrating Federal agency. Some established Indian lands which are larger than 320 acres are not included in this map layer because their boundaries were not available from the owning or administering agency.

These data were compiled to evaluate the magnitude and direction of change from historical conditions in climate metrics across the Southeastern Utah Group (SEUG) of National Parks. Objective(s) of our study were to quantify the magnitude and direction of change from historical conditions in climate metrics across SEUG parks at a meaningful scale for land managers and practitioners. These data represent the historical and projected future average temperatures for two emission scenarios and 12 global circulation models. Included are the annual average temperatures and the average temperatures for each season. These data were created by sampling representative locations across each National Park unit and simulating...

This dataset presents current and future change agent models and combined future potential for change (PFC) within sites of conservation concern. The sites of conservation concern extent was determined by compiling data representing sites of conservation concern for ecological value. Data sources include: BLM Areas of Critical Environmental Concern, USFWS designated and proposed critical habitat, wilderness study areas, USGS protected areas database (areas managed for biodiversity), state wildlife areas, Rio Grande wild and scenic river, Rio Grande del Norte national monument, Rio Grande natural area, conservation easements (NCED and all public and private easements and trusts not listed in NCED), Rio Grande corridor...

This study investigated local distribution and foraging behavior of the spotted bat (Euderma maculatum) in Dinosaur National Monument, Colorado-Utah, by monitoring audible echolocation calls. The occurrence of this species was verified in a variety of habitat types in canyon bottoms and other relatively low elevation sites, indicating that the animals were widely distributed and locally common in the area. Foraging spotted bats concentrated flight activity in the open-air space above meadows occasionally exploited near-canopy habitat (within 8 m of foliage). Bats began to forage shortly after dark, and activity levels were relatively constant throughout the night. Foraging spotted bats attacked airborne prey every...

The geographic information system (GIS) format spatial data set of vegetation for Grand Portage National Monument (GRPO) was created by the National Park Service (NPS) Vegetation Inventory Program (VIP). The GRPO covers an area of approximately 291.8 ha (721.1 acres). The map classification scheme used to create the vegetation data set is designed to represent local plant communities at the finest level possible using the National Vegetation Classification System. Physiognomic information was also recorded, including tree height, canopy density, and coverage patterns. The vegetation data set was developed by interpreting aerial photographs collected in 2006 and extensive field surveys. Individuals who cooperated...

Received from BLM NLCS data steward, Ilana R. Cohen on 6/14/12. All of the National Monuments managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). These units are part of the National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS). - Intersected with PAD-US (\GRSG\CEA\GRSG_Analysis\GRSG\rangewide\Data\admin\PADUS1_2\PADUS_Derived_for_CEA.gdb\PADUS_1_2_StudyArea) in order to incorporated the level of protection status categories (GAP_STATUS_CODE). - Ran Eliminate in order to remove slivers after visual inspection to determine each sliver. GAP_STATUS_CODES 1.) Within the study area these are state-owned lands, managed by the NPS in the Grand Tetons and Canyonlands areas) An area having permanent protection from conversion of natural...
