Hydroacoustic (sonar) data were collected for the Mississippi, St. Croix, and Minnesota Rivers for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. Small areas containing priority mussel habitat had additional collection efforts to map water velocities and bottom composition. Combining these data in a GIS can provide key components to characterizing physical benthic habitat for native mussels in a riverine environment. These information needs were highly desired by the National Park Service to more accurately assess environmental factors that influence native mussel distribution. The collaborative effort was funded by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) Environment...

Andrews Meadow in the Loch Vale watershed, Rocky Mountain National Park. Sample Collection: Englemann spruce (Picea engelmannii) living on slopes surrounding and at the edge of Andrews meadow (Latitude 40˚ 17’ 24” N, Longitude 105˚ 40’ 01” W NAD83). At the time of collection, the climate-sensitive upland P. engelmannii trees were growing on well-drained slopes above the meadow. Seventeen trees, two cores per tree when possible, were collected using a 5mm-diameter increment borer. During sample collection, diameter at breast height (DBH) was also measured. These cores were processed following standard dendrochronological methods. The annual (TW) and earlywood (EW) ring-widths of each core were measured to 0.001mm...

Soil porewater (30cm and 60cm depth) was sampled for specific conductance, salinity and temperature in the southwest coastal Everglades, Everglades National Park from 1997-2012 at four sampling locations. Principal sampling location (HR) was located adjacent the Harney River and had five sampling sites (~ 60m apart) along a 300m N-S transect in a coastal mangrove fringe forest sampled from 1997-2011. Porewater was sampled from 2002-2012 at three secondary locations: Tarpon Bay (TB), Shark River (SR) and Shark Slough (SS). At each of these sampling locations, there were at least three 30cm and three 60cm porewater sampling pipes.

This data set consists of federally owned land polygon features of the United States. The data set was created by extracting federal land polygon features from the individual 1:2,000,000-scale State boundary Digital Line Graph (DLG) files produced by the U.S. Geological Survey. These files were then appended into a single coverage. This is a revised version of the June 1998 data set. There may be private inholdings within the boundaries of Federal Lands in this data set. These data are intended for geographic display and analysis at the national level, and for large regional areas. The data should be displayed and analyzed at scales appropriate for 1:2,000,000-scale data. No responsibility is assumed by the U.S....

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) has produced the Vegetation Spatial Database Coverage (vegetation map) for the Acadia National Park Vegetation Mapping Project, USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program (VMP). The vegetation map is of Acadia National Park (NP) and extended environs, providing 99,693 hectares (246,347 acres) of map data. Of this coverage, 52,872 hectares (130,650 acres) is non-vegetated ocean, bay, and estuary (53% of coverage). Acadia NP comprises 19,276 hectares (47,633 acres) of the total data coverage area (19%, 40% not counting ocean and estuary data). Over 7,120 polygons make up the coverage, each with map class description and, for vegetation...

This data release contains information collected during surveys for chorus fogs (Pseudacris maculata), wood frogs (Lithobates sylvaticus) and tiger salamanders (Ambystoma mavortium) conducted in Rocky Mountain National Park (1986 – 2022) by the U.S. Geological Survey. Survey methods included visual encounter and aural surveys, and dip netting. Data collected between 1986 and 1994 focused on named water bodies in Rocky Mountain National Park. Data collected between 1995 and 1999 are from focal monitoring sites as well as sporadic surveys of other wetlands. Data collected between 2000-2002 represent repeated surveys conducted between 1986 and 1994 (e.g., park-wide surveys of named water bodies) and additional surveys...

This dataset delineates wetland ponds and emergent wetland vegetation in Mt. Rainier National Park. It was created through object based image analysis of high resolution imagery from 2006 and 2009 and LiDAR data acquired in the fall of 2008. Riparian wetlands are not included in this dataset. Accuracy is only verified for wetland ponds in the subalpine region. Forested wetlands, riparian wetlands, and emergent vegetation were only visually assessed. This data maps all wetland habitat, but was primarily used to locate and delineate amphibian habitat in Mt. Rainier National Park.
