The USGS and SEO Streamflow Gage Locations dataset with locations where ungaged natural flow estimates were taken contains the latitude-longitude locations for selected gages within the Powder/Tongue River Basin Planning Area. This dataset contains the locations only for those USGS and SEO gages that were used in the Powder/Tongue River Basin Plan to model available flow. The locations where natural flow was estimated for purposes of modeling available flow are also included.

The recent proliferation of oil and natural gas energy development in the Greater Green River Basin of southwest Wyoming has accentuated the need to understand wildlife responses to this development. The location and extent of surface disturbance that is created by oil and natural gas well pad scars are key pieces of information used to assess the effects of energy infrastructure on wildlife populations and habitat. A digital database of oil and natural gas pad scars had previously been generated from 1-meter (m) National Agriculture Imagery Program imagery (NAIP) acquired in 2009 for a 7.7-million hectare (ha) (19,026,700 acres) region of southwest Wyoming (Garman and McBeth, 2014). Scars included the pad area...

In 2006, Rock Well Petroleum drilled and logged nearly 1,600 feet (ft) of continuous core on the southern part of the Casper arch in Natrona County, Wyoming (see fig1.png). The core hole, named the Poison Spider core #8 penetrated the interval extending from the Upper Cretaceous Frontier Formation to the Triassic Alcova Limestone. The core was subsequently donated to the U.S. Geological Survey Core Research Center (CRC) in Lakewood, Colorado, where it was sampled to evaluate the hydrocarbon source rock potential of the Lower and lowermost Upper Cretaceous marine shales.

This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution radiometric survey over the South Pass-Granite Mountains region in central Wyoming. The airborne survey was funded by the state of Wyoming, designed by the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS), and contracted by the USGS. The survey is aligned with the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative and was designed to meet complementary needs related to geologic mapping and characterization of mineral resource potential. A total of 47,973.8 line km of radiometric data were acquired over an area of 8639 km2. Data were collected from a helicopter flown at a nominal terrain clearance of 100 meters (m) above topography along N-S flight lines spaced at 200...

This dataset contains the 14 major reservoirs in the Powder/Tongue River Basin Planning Area. All surface water storage in structures containing more than 50 acre-feet of storage or more than 20 feet high (meeting the minimum standards for inclusion in the Dam Safety database) were initially selected. These selection criteria produced a set of 189 surface water storage facilities. The State Engineer's Office Water Division Two commissioners agreed that a further set of criteria should be introduced to provide a list from which the dams of particular significance to the basin could be developed. Commissioners agreed that in almost all cases, a limit of 1,000 acre-feet capacity and "serving multiple users" produced...

This dataset contains the irrigated lands mapped for the Powder/Tongue River Basin Plan. All man induced irrigation or subirrigation was delineated. Natural subirrigated fields were not delineated unless some benefit was being received from a man made system. Irrigated lands were divided into the following categories based on visual interpretations of the quality of the irrigation, types of crops supported, and the type and condition of the irrigation delivery systems and on-farm systems used to serve these lands: A - Full service irrigation (typically receives a full water supply); B - Partial service irrigation (typically receives a reduced water supply due to limited water availability or the inability to provide...

Tax district mapping is an important function of the Property Tax Division - Technical Services Group. The identification of tax districts aids in the mill levy process and helps counties redistribute tax funds more effectively.

Contains approximately 3407 point locations of Wyoming Stock Pond Permit Locations on file with the Wyoming State Engineer's Office (SEO). They range in dates from the late 1800s to 2000, but are located only to the nearest 40 acre parcel. All locational information and attributes were imported from the SEO Water Right Permits Database stored in a MS Access database.

This dataset is a scientifically based, hierarchical system of map units for Southwestern Wyoming that incorporates ecological principles and processes across a range of scales. These units are a mapping of terrain features having similar terrain configuration, ecological properties and management implications within which situational landscape-ecosystems can logically and conveniently be defined. While the process of delineation of these units is subjective, units are hierarchically nested into the structure of the ECOMAP (1993) national hierarchy of ecological units. The includes Landtype Associations as well as higher hierarchical units in which Landtype Associations are imbedded. Associations are defined by...

Contains approximately 53 reservoir permits for 17 major reservoirs on file with the Wyoming State Engineer's Office (SEO). They range in dates from the late 1800s to the late 1900s. All attributes were imported from the SEO Tabulation of Adjudicated Surface Water Rights stored in a MS Access database.

Contains approximately 3111 irrigation water right permits on file with the Wyoming State Engineer's Office (SEO). They range in dates from the late 1800s to 2001. The water rights attribution task entails identifying and describing the water rights attached to the irrigated lands polygons. This task is included in the river basin planning process for two reasons. First, knowing the water rights attached to the polygons provides additional understanding of the source of supply and the irrigation systems that deliver water to the polygons. This increased understanding contributes to the accuracy and reliability of the service area designations used to group lands by source of supply. The second reason for the water...
