Red lionfish (Pterois volitans) have become a successful invasive predator across the Northwestern Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico (GoM). Previous investigations have identified the southeast coast of Florida as the original site of introduction, but no region-wide genetic study has directly addressed the question of introduction location(s). This dataset includes previously unpublished red lionfish samples (n = 237) from six locations: The Bahamas, Florida Keys, Northwest Florida, North Carolina, Panama, and Southeast Florida. Sequences archived in NCBI from other locations in the Northern Region, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico basins were used in the analyses (N = 1558). Previously published sequences were...

This dataset includes XY coordinates and species and behavioral observations of birds detected in aerial imagery captured over coastal islands along Maine's coast during 30 May. - 3 June 2019. The Partenavia P.68 Observer plane flew over 268 islands within the Gulf of Maine (GOM). The plane flew at an altitude of 310 m above ground level and was equipped with a PhaseOne iXU-RS1000 (100 megapixel) multispectral camera and 70 mm lens to capture 4-band (red, green, blue, (RGB) and near-infrared (NIR) light) imagery with a ground sampling distance of 2 cm/px. Timing for the aerial image collection was selected to reflect peak nesting periods for the focal species (Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Double-crested...

The eastern black rail (Laterallus jamaicensis jamaicensis; hereafter rail) is a small, cryptic marshbird that was recently listed as threatened under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. We organized a rapid prototyping workshop to initiate development of an adaptive management for rails on the Atlantic Coast. The in-person workshop spanned 2.5 days and was held in Titusville, Florida in January 2020. Workshop participants, comprised of species experts and land managers of rail habitats, chose to focus the framework on testing habitat management techniques to maximize rail occupancy, in which uncertainties could be reduced through a combination of field management experiments and coordinated monitoring. We used the...
In this data release, Cenozoic calcareous nannofossil occurrence charts are provided as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for 57 cores, wells, or outcrops from the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain (Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey) and one core from offshore New Jersey. Samples have been assigned a USGS sample number and are organized by depth below (cores and wells) or height above (outcrops) the land surface. Based on their known stratigraphic position, lithology, and specific calcareous nannofossil species content, each sample, where possible, was assigned to a geologic formation, age, and standard Martini (1971) calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphic zone. Six additional reference files are provided: (1) introductory...

Data included are DNA sequences used to identify species boundaries among Ichthyophonus-like parasites. Sequences were generated for three gene regions from each parasite isolate. DNA sequences can be downloaded from GenBank (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) as text or fasta files. Accession numbers for each sequence are included in the data table (.csv file). Data includes 87 sequences (99,383 total nucleotides). Once manuscript is accepted there are no restrictions on dissemination of these data.

The GAP National Terrestrial Ecosystems - Ver 3.0 is a 2011 update of the National Gap Analysis Project Land Cover Data - Version 2.2 for the conterminous U.S. The GAP National Terrestrial Ecosystems - Version 3.0 represents a highly thematically detailed land cover map of the U.S. The map legend includes types described by NatureServe's Ecological Systems Classification (Comer et al. 2002) as well as land use classes described in the National Land Cover Dataset 2011 (Homer et al. 2015). These data cover the entire continental U.S. and are a continuous data layer. These raster data have a 30 m x 30 m cell resolution. GAP used the best information available to create the land cover data; however GAP seeks to improve...

Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs) are public-private partnerships composed of states, tribes, federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, universities, international jurisdictions, and others working together to address landscape and seascape scale conservation issues. LCCs inform resource management decisions to address broad-scale stressors-including habitat fragmentation, genetic isolation, spread of invasive species, and water scarcity-all of which are magnified by a rapidly changing climate. For further information go to https://www.fws.gov/science/catalog. The previous 2011 LCC Network Areas data is available at https://www.sciencebase.gov/catalog/item/52f2735ee4b0a6f0bd498c2f

This dataset combines the work of several different projects to create a seamless data set for the contiguous United States. Data from four regional Gap Analysis Projects and the LANDFIRE project were combined to make this dataset. In the northwestern United States (Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Washington and Wyoming) data in this map came from the Northwest Gap Analysis Project. In the southwestern United States (Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah) data used in this map came from the Southwest Gap Analysis Project. The data for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia came from the Southeast Gap Analysis Project and the California data was...

The NFHAP Coastal Spatial Framework and Indicator Datasets consist of a geospatial base layer developed in ArcGIS, and associated data fields joined to the spatial framework. The Coastal Spatial Framework is a layer of 612 distinct polygons covering coastal areas of the Continental U.S. Polygons represent either coastal watersheds (land) or coastal waters (estuaries, inshore marine, offshore marine),and are classified into six regions and 22 nested subregions. Each polygon is assigned a unique code (UniqueID) to provide location reference for indicator data, and enable joins to separate data tables.s for information recorded in the Bibliography and Assessment tables. Key indicator data fields attributed to each...

We present new high-resolution proxy data for the Holocene history of drift ice off Iceland based on the mineralogy of the <2-mm sediment fraction using quantitative X-ray diffraction. These new data, bolstered by a comparison with published proxy records, point to a long-term increasing trend in drift ice input into the North Atlantic from 6 to 5 ka toward the present day at sites influenced by the cold east Greenland Current. This feature reflects the late Holocene Neoglacial or cooling period recorded in ice cores and further terrestrial archives on Greenland. In contrast, a decrease in drift ice during the same period is recorded at sites underlying the North Atlantic Drift, which may reflect a warming of this...

This data is for planning purposes only. LCCs are applied conservation science partnerships with two main functions. The first is to promote collaboration among their members in defining shared conservation goals. With these goals in mind, partners can identify where and how they will take action, within their own authorities and organizational priorities, to best contribute to the larger conservation effort. The second function of LCCs is to provide the science and technical expertise needed to address the shared priorities and support conservation planning at landscape scales – beyond the scope and authority of any one organization. The organizational model of the LCC Network was intentionally structured to operate...
