This project involves the preparation of the climate chapters for the National Park Service (NPS) Natural Resources Condition Assessment (NRCA) for Mount Rainier National Park (MORA) and North Cascades National Park Complex (NOCA), and provides resources for the University of Washington (UW) Climate Impacts Group to analyze additional NPS and other weather station or snow course data and compare them to existing long term stations in the Historical Climate Network and the more dispersed cooperative weather network. These networks form the observations underlying spatial interpolation with historical climate data and downscaling of future global climate model projections, so putting these stations in the context...
* The PFLCC, in conjunction with GeoAdaptive (GA) and Geodesign Technologies (GDT), completed a set of comprehensive conservation planning scenarios for the state of Florida in 2014. The scenarios considered variations in climate change, urban growth, conservation funding, and conservation strategy and were designed using a stakeholder-based process involving both the science advisory board and steering committee of the PFLCC. This represents the first statewide effort to assess likely alternative futures for conservation considering an array of financial, biological, climatological, and urban growth pattern conditions. Land use and land tenure changes were simulated to systematically allocate potential future conservation...

The Peninsular Florida LCC (PFLCC) uses a science-based, data-rich approach to define priorities across the landscape. In order to communicate those priorities and underlying information effectively to a broad range of stakeholders, PFLCC wishes to work with the Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) to develop a simple interactive viewer for data and products derived from science activities that will provide information to guide natural resource management decisions.. Over the longer term, PFLCC would also like to build on the successful use of the Data Basin (databasin.org) platform by other LCCs to develop a Conservation Planning Atlas in order to share the data layers using the feature-rich mapping, visualization,...

The mountain parks of the North Coast and Cascades Network (NCCN) span a gradient of urban influence, and a west-east precipitation gradient. Because of these gradients, network parks and areas within may respond differently to certain stressors (e.g., atmospheric deposition of contaminants), while responding similarly to others (e.g., global climate change). This collaborative project with Central Washington University (CWU) involves continuation of long-term monitoring of precipitation chemistry in Mount Rainier National Park (MORA)), and the analysis of surface water samples, to better understand the relationship between natural processes and perturbations. By sampling on a continuous basis with consistent techniques,...
