At the direction of the ACC, the 99th Civil Engineering Squadron, Natural and Cultural Resources Flight (99 CES/CEVN) has prepared an Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP) to serve as a practical management guideline for the day-to-day operations and management of the natural resources on NAFB and NTTR. The INRMP incorporates natural resource management policies, available regulatory guidance documents, and current natural resource data for NAFB and NTTR to produce a practical guidance document that recognizes and respects the goals and objectives of the Nellis mission while conserving and sustaining the natural resources of both areas. To meet that end, the INRMP provides simple natural resource management...

Pima County makes extensive use of Geographical Information System (GIS) technology for making maps. For the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan, this was an important technology for assembling the extensive existing data, both digital and non-digital, identifying critical gaps in the data and potential remedies, and providing a means for analyzing the information on biological and physical resources over the six million acre study area. SDCP Mapguide was created to display many of the natural resource GIS data layers, but Mapguide is being replaced with PimaMaps. You can use either to make your own overlays on aerial photos, line maps, or USGS topography. Customize your online map while panning and zooming on the...

This Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) is for Fort Bliss and the United States Department of the Army (U.S. Army) in accordance with the Sikes Act Improvement Act, Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction and Manual 4715.03 Natural Resources Conservation Program, U.S. Army Regulation 200-1, Environmental Protection and Enhancement, U.S. Army Strategy for the Environment: Sustain the Mission-Secure the Future. INRMP direction is by a recent series of Department of Defense and Department of the Army guidance memoranda on the Sikes Act and INRMPs. The purpose of this INRMP is to provide guidance for the implementation and management of natural resources on Fort Bliss during the 5-year period from...

Federally owned and managed public lands occupy approximately 30 percent of the land area of the United States, and anywhere from 50 percent to more than 80 percent of the land area of many of the western states. Determining the appropriate use of these lands involves balancing objectives related to economic, recreational, and conservation interests. This paper examines established and emerging conflicts within and across these objectives through both a narrative discussion of specific topics and a series of case studies. The authors find that new challenges, including pressures to devote portions of public lands to renewable energy project development and the multifaceted threats presented by climate change, will...

This map shows current and near-term recreation development within the ecoregion. Input datasets used in the geospatial modeling for these datasets are also included, which are mainly attributes for metrics for several types of recreation (OHV, hiker, biker, camper, etc.). These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) "as is" and may contain errors or omissions. The User assumes the entire risk associated with its use of these data and bears all responsibility in determining whether these data are fit for the User's intended use. These data may not have the accuracy, resolution, completeness, timeliness, or other characteristics appropriate for applications that potential users of the data may contemplate....

The User assumes the entire risk associated with its use of these data and bears all responsibility in determining whether these data are fit for the User's intended use. This dataset contains values on the potential number of visitors via Off-Highway Vehicle enthusiasts (in year ~2030). This assumes a "push" factor of the number of recreationists is equal to 20.9% of population in the CBR/MBR region, which is the average participation rate of off-road recreation usage of both metro and non-metro residents of AZ, CA, NV, and UT from the National survey on recreation and the environment. Cordell et al. 2008. Visitation is assume to decline in half with each 1 hour of travel time.

This dataset contains values on the potential number of visitors to a reservoir/river via motorized boat (in year ~2008).
Climate change is predicted to alter sport fish communities in Midwestern lakes, according to a new study that related water temperature to suitability for walleye and largemouth bass in more than 2,100 Wisconsin lakes.

This dataset depicts land-based recreation travel corridors. Very little information is available for land-based recreation travel, thus we were forced to create this dataset as an initial estimate of linear features that may be used for recreation. This dataset is a combination of national trails, and non-highway features from BLM's ground transportation linear features dataset clipped to federal and state lands (except Dept. of Defense lands). Given absence of additional information, it could be assumed that many roads and trails within public lands could be used for recreation travel of one form or another. Insufficient information is available to categorize the types of recreation that may occur on these features....

The Vista tool is used to create a Scenario of the development CAs affecting the Apacherian Chihuahuan Semi-Desert Grassland and Steppe CE and applies user-input Landscape Condition Model (LCM) scores to generate ESAs for each of the CEs. The LCM consists of Site Impact scores and impact Distances for each CA category. Site Impact scores are a value between 0 and 1 representing the impact of the CA on the relevant CEs. A score close to 1 indicates negligible or no impact from that CA. A score close to 0 indicates the highest possible impact, e.g. an interstate highway that makes the area in which it occurs completely unsuitable for the CE. Distances are set in meters and extend the impact of the CA from the footprint...
