This dataset is intended to represent the approximate boundaries of landscapes selected for restoration funding under the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) for 2010.

This dataset shows the boundary of the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program in the Clearwater Basin. This data set was created from a digital hydrologic unit boundary layer to the Subwatershed (12-digit) 6th level for the State of Idaho. This data set consists of geo-referenced digital data and associated attributes created in accordance with the "FGDC Proposal, Version 1.0 - Federal Standards For Delineation of Hydrologic Unit Boundaries 3/01/02"(http://www.ftw.nrcs.usda.gov/huc_data.html). Polygons are attributed with hydrologic unit codes for 4th level sub-basins, 5th level watersheds, 6th level subwatersheds, name, size, downstream hydrologic unit, type of watershed, non-contributing areas and...

Road density can inform the definition of Clearwater Basin Collaborative "working areas"
thumbnail
When reviewing alternatives for the establishment of "working areas" within the Clearwater Basin, considering a 300 meters buffer of roads at various operational maintenance levels can be helpful.

The Geographic Information Retrieval and Analysis System (GIRAS) was developed in the mid 70s to put into digital form a number of data layers which were of interest to the USGS. One of these data layers was the Hydrologic Units. The map is based on the Hydrologic Unit Maps published by the U.S. Geological Survey Office of Water Data Coordination, together with the list descriptions and name of region, subregion, accounting units, and cataloging unit. The hydrologic units are encoded with an eight- digit number that indicates the hydrologic region (first two digits), hydrologic subregion (second two digits), accounting unit (third two digits), and cataloging unit (fourth two digits). The data produced by GIRAS...

This road density dataset can inform the Clearwater Basin Collaborative about where to establish "working areas" of more active timber management across the Basin.

This dataset displays linear projects funded under the CFLRP. Trails and roads decommissioning or improvements.

Activity polygons for Flathead National Forest. Activities include timber harvests, planting, thinning, and other forest management and natural activities.

This dataset displays project treatment areas for the Horseshoe Project on the Seeley Lake District, Lolo National Forest, Region1, USDA Forest Service. This project is funded by the CFLRP - Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program.

Simple road density calculated as miles of road per square mile. Thus, a 1 square mile circular window was used to sum the length of road for each 30 meter cell. I relied only on Clearwater and Nez Perce National Forest roads datasets.

This road density dataset can inform "working areas" that are appropriate for more active timber harvest according to the Clearwater Basin Collaborative

Filters for WUI and Non-WUI Vegetative Treatment This prioritization was determined by a consensus of the Southwestern Crown Collaborative’s members and is based on a logical sequence of spatial data filters that were developed consistent with the Montana Forest Restoration Principles (http://www.montanarestoration.org), Forest Landscape Restoration Act, and the best available data for the landscape. Filters were determined based on a landscape-scale analysis for several reasons. First, a landscape analysis helps collaborative groups communicate, discuss, and eventually reach consensus on why and where restoration projects should be implemented. The process is crucial for stakeholders to understand the priorities...
