These are shapefiles and final unioned polygon coverages used to calculate coal resources of the A through D coal zones, Yampa coal field, northwestern Colorado. Yamafing was used for the A coal zone, yambfing was used for the B coal zone, etc. Polygons that make up the final unioned polygons include counties, 7.5' quadrangles, townships, surface and coal ownership, leased areas, net coal thickness categories, and overburden categories. The final unioned coverage for each coal zone, was clipped by the resource boundary polygon of each coal zone. These polygons are described in the metadata files for the yam_bnd coverages.

The data release encapsulates geospatial data in support of the regional scale study, Coal Geology and Assessment of Coal Resources and Reserves in the Little Snake River coal field and Red Desert assessment area, Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming. The assessment area covers about 2,300 square miles of the Eastern portion of the 15,400 square mile Greater Green River Basin in Southwestern Wyoming. This release includes geospatial data for the study area boundary, depth to coal, thickness of coal, outcrops and reliability. These data were compiled from numerous sources, the primary one being a database of point data that resides in a separate data release.

These are shapefiles and coverages that represent areas of combined State and Federal coal leases and mined-out areas in the Yampa coal field. Yamaleasg contains polygons for which resources were not calculated for the A coal zone. Yambleasg contains polygons for which resources were not calculated for the B coal zone, etc.

This ArcView shapefile contains a polygon representation of generalized geology in the Green River Basin. This geology shapefile was produced as part of the National Coal Resource Assessment of the Northern Rocky Mountain and Great Plains Fort Union Coal Resources Assessment Area. This geology can be shown in relation to other relevant themes in the green River Basin.

The U.S. Geological Survey conducted an assessment of coal resources and reserves in the Little Snake River coal field and Red Desert area of the Greater Green River Basin in Southwest Wyoming. A comprehensive database was compiled to support this assessment that includes data points for drill-holes and measured sections. Associated with these resources are lithology descriptors, (focusing on coal beds of varying depth) as well as coal quality data. Sources of data includes the USGS National Coal Resources Data System (NCRDS), Anadarko Land Corporation (Anadarko), Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (WOGCC), and previously unpublished data in USGS files. This is a shapefile and unioned polygon ownership coverage used to calculate coal resources of the A through D coal zones, Yampa coal field, northwestern Colorado. Polygons that have been combined include counties, 7.5' quadrangles, townships, surface and coal ownership. This ownership coverage was clipped by the largest resource boundary polygon--that of the A coal zone.
