Seagrass habitats for the Gulf of Mexico. Seagrasses provide nursery areas, spawning and foraging habitats for fish, fowl, and reptiles.
To generate a down-scaled likelihood occurrence model for the SAV community to predict potential impacts of restoration activities aimed at addressing documented NRDA damage to SAV.

Compilation of seagrass (submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) ) from digital benthic habitat data created by National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), Coastal Services Center (CSC) from existing digital multi-spectral imagery (ADS-40). NOAA worked cooperatively with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the Texas A&M University Center for Coastal Studies to develop benthic habitat data for several Texas coastal bays. This data will support the state's recently adopted Seagrass Monitoring Program which calls for regional mapping of seagrass for status and trends assessment. More information about the Ecosystems Integration and Assessment Priority Issue Team is available...

This dataset is derived from NOAA's study, the Benthic Habitats of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Benthic Habitats data is the result of a cooperative effort between NOAA's National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), U.S. Geological Survey, National Park Service, and the National Geophysical Data Center, to produce benthic habitat maps and georeferenced imagery for Puerto Rico. This project was conducted in support of the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force.

Submersed aquatic vegetation, a critical component of highly productive coastal ecosystems, is greatly affected by sea level rise. The Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative needs consistent information on these natural resources along the Gulf of Mexico Coast to develop computer modeling tools. These tools will contribute to efforts to forecast the effects of climate change on the distribution, abundance, and diversity of submersed aquatic vegetation and the fish and wildlife that depend on them. This project was co-funded by the Gulf Coast Prairie and the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperatives and the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center. An alternate reference...
