This project will build an SR LCC catalog inside of the USGS-sponsored ScienceBase scientific data and information management platform, provide the ability for partner organizations to maintain and contribute to an SR LCC0specific work environment in ScienceBase, and provide stewardship and data integration coordination for the SR LCC partners.FY2012This project will build an SR LCC catalog inside of the USGS-sponsored ScienceBase scientific data and information management platform, provide the ability for partner organizations to maintain and contribute to an SR LCC0specific work environment in ScienceBase, and provide stewardship and data integration coordination for the SR LCC partners.

An estimated value for the ability of managers to dirct actions to protect, restore, or mitigate species and habitats. We recognize that our preliminary estimates are arbitrary and fairly approximate, but argue that making these explicit within a framework will enable stakeholders and managers to conduct subsequent analyses to better support their decision making.
Survey data was integrated within a GIS by georeferencing observations to an existing national spatial framework (National Hydrography Dataset), which allows for broader transferability to watersheds shared with neighboring states, creating a seamless layer not limited by state boundaries. Addressing the management and conservation challenges for native fishes will require the ability to “data mine” the extensive existing information on distribution and abundance of species available from aquatic survey programs. Results from such syntheses can be used to assess the current conservation status of native fishes, quantify the extent of species invasions, and establish baseline distributions with which to evaluate...

Cutthroat trout (CT; Oncorhynchus clarki ssp.) are extremely imperiled owing to a variety of stressors. Changing climate is adding to these stressors that have already relegated CT in the Southern Rocky Mountains to less than 35% of their native habitat. The Rio Grande CT (O. c. virginalis) occupies 12% of its native range and is currently under review for ESA listing as federally threatened. Changing thermal regimes, hydroclimate, and disturbance regimes will continue to alter the remaining habitat of Rio Grande CT. An understanding the status and trends of Rio Grande CT thermal habitats and the vulnerability of these habitats to climate driven changes in temperature and stochastic disturbance regimes would enable...

This reports summarizes work and key findings to date from the Upper RIO Grande Basin SNOwfall Measurement and streamFLOW (RIO-SNO-FLOW) Forecasting Improvement Project conducted from Jan. 1, 2014 through Dec. 31, 2015. The project area was centered over the upper mainstem Rio Grande and Conejos River basins in southern Colorado. This report is organized into 7 chapters that detail the major elements of the project including; a Project Description, NOAA Gap-filling Radar, NASA Airborne Snow Observatory, In-Situ Ground Observations, Distributed Hydrologic Modeling, and Community Engagement. While several follow-on activities are still in progress, a number of conclusions and recommendations have emerged from the...

The Conservation Biology Institute will develop a Southern Rockies LCC Conservation Planning Atlas (SRLCC CPA) powered by Data Basin that will make it easier for resource managers and other stakeholders to discover, analyze, and interpret spatial data on priority topics including aquatic resource management and climate impacts. The SRLCC CPA will facilitate conservation planning, analyses and evaluation from common datasets and provide basic mapping capability to users without desktop GIS software. The SRLCC CPA will most directly support science needs in Funding Category II, however because of the design of this flexible web-based platform, it can be used to inform management decisions spanning a wide range of...
