Water levels in meters from four wells in Moneystump marsh at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, MD. Two wells are located in the upland forest; one well is located in the marsh-forest transition zone (ecotone); and one well is located in the marsh. Water depth of the adjacent creek is reported in meters. Data covers the time span from November 11 2016 - November 11 2017. Pressure transducer data from the wells corrected to water level using barometric pressure loggers located in 3 locations throughout the experiment. Water levels are in units of meters referenced to vertical datum NAVD88. Raw pressure data is in units of kilopascals (kPa). Pressure transducer locations and elevation data from GNSS and digital...

WARMER-2 Model Inputs and Projections for Three Tidal Wetland Sites Across San Francisco Bay Estuary
Understanding the rates and patterns of tidal wetland elevation changes relative to sea-level is essential for understanding the extent of potential wetland loss over the coming years. Using an enhanced and more flexible modeling framework of an ecosystem model (WARMER-2), we explored sea-level rise (SLR) impacts on wetland elevations and carbon sequestration rates through 2100 by considering plant community transitions, salinity effects on productivity, and changes in sediment availability. We incorporated local experimental results for plant productivity relative to inundation and salinity into a species transition model, as well as site-level estimates of organic matter decomposition. The revised modeling framework...
Coastal wetlands are major global carbon sinks, however, they are heterogeneous and dynamic ecosystems. To characterize spatial and temporal variability in a New England salt marsh, static chamber measurements of greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes were compared among major plant-defined zones (high marsh dominated by Distichlis spicata and a zone of invasive Phragmites australis) during 2013 and 2014 growing seasons. Two sediment cores were collected in 2015 from the Phragmites zone to support previously reported core collections from the high marsh sites (Gonneea and others 2018). Collected cores were up to 70 cm in length with dry bulk density ranges from 0.04 to 0.33 grams per cubic centimeter and carbon content 22.4%...

Constant Rate of Supply (CRS) model,
Understanding how sea-level rise will affect coastal landforms and the species and habitats they support is critical for developing approaches that balance the needs of humans and native species. Given the magnitude of the threat posed by sea-level rise, and the urgency to better understand it, there is an increasing need to forecast sea-level rise effects on barrier islands. To address this problem, scientists in the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Coastal and Marine Geology program are developing Bayesian networks as a tool to evaluate and to forecast the effects of sea-level rise on shoreline change, barrier island geomorphology, and habitat availability for species such as the piping plover (Charadrius melodus)...

Elevation projections from the WARMER-Mangroves model for J N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge across a range of sea-level rise scenarios (53, 115, and 183 cm by 2100). The model was calibrated using dated soil cores sampled from the basin hydrologic zone. These data support the following publication: Buffington, K.J., Thorne, K.M., Krauss, K.W., Conrad, J.K., Drexler, J.Z., and Zhu, Z., in-review. Vulnerability of Sanibel Island’s mangrove resources to sea-level rise (Florida, USA).
This dataset (in ESRI file geodatabase format) contains inundation areas for various future scenarios of sea-level rise (SLR), groundwater rise, and storm waves at Midway Atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Four types of inundation scenarios are considered: (1) passive SLR, (2) passive SLR including groundwater rise, (3) wave-driven inundation during storm events, and (4) wave-driven inundation during storm events including groundwater rise. For each of these four scenarios, five different levels of SLR are considered: 0.00 m, +0.50 m, +1.00 m, +1.50 m, and +2.00 m. We considered each scenario at mean high water in order to predict inundation during the more damaging part of the tidal range. Each of the...
The Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) makes detailed predictions (meter-scale) over large geographic scales (100s of kilometers) of storm-induced coastal flooding and erosion for both current and future sea-level rise (SLR) scenarios. CoSMoS 3.2 for Northern California shows projections for future climate scenarios (sea-level rise and storms) to provide emergency responders and coastal planners with critical storm-hazards information that can be used to increase public safety, mitigate physical damages, and more effectively manage and allocate resources within complex coastal settings. Data for Northern California covers the coastline from Golden Gate Bridge to the California-Oregon state border.

This data release contains mean high water (MHW) shorelines for sandy beaches along the coast of California for the years 1998/2002, 2015, and 2016. The MHW elevation in each analysis region (Northern, Central, and Southern California) maintained consistency with that of the National Assessment of Shoreline Change. The operational MHW line was extracted from Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) digital elevation models (DEMs) using the ArcGIS smoothed contour method. The smoothed contour line was then quality controlled to remove artifacts, as well as remove any contour tool interpretation of human-made infrastructure (such as jetties, piers, and sea walls), using satellite imagery from ArcGIS.
