This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution magnetic and radiometric survey over an area of northwest Arkansas. The airborne geophysical survey was jointly funded by the USGS National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program and the Earth Mapping Resource Initiative and was designed to meet the complimentary needs related to geologic mapping and mineral resource research. The survey covers an irregular area 225 by 110 kilometer over the transition between the Ouachita and Ozarks Plateau physiographic provinces and includes 67,614 line-kilometers of magnetic and radiometric data. This data release pertains to a seepage investigation and dye tracing study conducted in the Big Creek watershed of Newton County, Arkansas. The dye tracing dataset consists of geospatial files of monitoring sites, dye injection location, and dye flow paths. Hydrologic systems in karst environments have a high degree of interconnectivity between surface water and groundwater systems. Because of this interconnectivity, activities which occur on the surface in karst environments have a direct impact on the water quality and quantity of karst groundwater. The Ozark Plateaus Physiographic region (Ozarks) of northern Arkansas and southern Missouri is an extensive karst area where many of the karst flow systems are recharged...

This dataset includes tables of U- and Th-isotopic data used to calculate uranium-series age estimates (230Th/U method) and initial 234U/238U activity ratios for samples of tufa mounds formed by groundwater seepage. In addition, data include 87Sr/86Sr and 234U/238U values determined for spring discharge and streamflow collected from sites in the vicinity of Buffalo National River.
