The conservation community of the Caribbean can feel small, at times, or as vast as the ocean that surrounds us. In a growingly complex world of environmental and social obstacles it is imperative to work collaboratively across ecosystems, scales, disciplines and methodologies. Protecting natural and cultural resources is essential to sustaining our health and quality of life. People, along with the fish and wildlife, rely on clean water and the benefits of healthy rivers, streams, wetlands, forests, grasslands, coasts, coral reefs, estuaries and oceans in order to thrive. Equally as diverse and vibrant as our ecosystems are the Caribbean peoples, histories, and cultures that are arguably just as threatened as our...

The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is the Federal standard for geographic nomenclature. The U.S. Geological Survey developed the GNIS for the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, a Federal inter-agency body chartered by public law to maintain uniform feature name usage throughout the Government and to promulgate standard names to the public. The GNIS is the official repository of domestic geographic names data; the official vehicle for geographic names use by all departments of the Federal Government; and the source for applying geographic names to Federal electronic and printed products of all types. See http://geonames.usgs.gov for additional information.

Prior research has shown that sediment budgets, and therefore stability, of microtidal marsh complexes scale with areal unvegetated to vegetated marsh ratios (UVVR) suggesting these metrics are broadly applicable indicators of microtidal marsh vulnerability. This effort has developed the UVVR metric using Landsat 8 satellite imagery for the coastal areas of the contiguous United States (CONUS). These datasets provide annual averages of 1) developed, 2) vegetated, 3) unvegetated fractional covers and 4) an unvegetated to vegetated ratio (UVVR) at 30-meter resolution over the coastal areas of the contiguous United States for the years 2014-2018. Additionally, multi-year average values of vegetated fractional cover...

Tax district mapping is an important function of the Property Tax Division - Technical Services Group. The identification of tax districts aids in the mill levy process and helps counties redistribute tax funds more effectively.
In order to identify approaches for integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plant optimization it is necessary to analyse where and why the losses in the process occur. Therefore a structured exergy analysis of an IGCC with carbon capture was performed to identify losses on a plant, subsystem and individual component level. The investigation of the IGCC base case revealed an exergetic efficiency of 40%. Thus, 60% of the whole fuel exergy is lost in the process. On the subsystem level it was found that the major loss contributor is the combined cycle followed by the gas treatment section and the gasification island. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the significance of the losses is higher in upstream processes...
