Note: this data release has been superseded by version 2.0, available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P94LIJU5 This dataset contains the number of breeding pairs of bird species surveyed in all Cottonwood Lake Study Area wetlands.
This dataset contains the number of breeding pairs of bird species surveyed in all Cottonwood Lake Study Area wetlands.
This dataset includes bird species, invertebrate order and family, sample identification codes, capture date, latitude, longitude, habitat, site name, bird age, total mercury concentrations in bird blood, and methylmercury concentrations in whole body aquatic invertebrates.

These data are daily summary checklists of all bird species observed at U.S. Geological Survey, Alaska Science Center (ASC) field camps. Data include species observation details such as observers, dates, location, and number of individuals seen. Field camps were located in Northern, Western, Interior, Southwest, Southcentral, and Southeast Alaska, Baja California Sur Mexico, and northern Russia.

Terrestrial ecosystems are vulnerable to future changes in the global climate, including increased temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and changes in vegetation. Information on the potential effects of climate change on bird communities can help guide effective conservation and inform land management decisions. We used output from MC2, a dynamic global vegetation model (DGVM), and climate models to inform the potential distribution of vegetation types based on hybrid vegetation maps dervied from the GAP vegetation classification system. These hybrid vegetation models were then used to inform bird distribution models0. The data covers three time periods (1970-1999), (2035-2064), and (2070-2099) for 59...
A biologist and field crew from Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center visited sites nine times throughout the breeding season (late May to mid-July) to record counts of grassland birds. Surveyors applied North American Breeding Bird Survey methodology to obtain counts at On-, Near-, and Off-road Stops, but unlike the North American Breeding Bird Survey, which features a single survey at each site, three replicate surveys were conducted on back-to-back-to-back days during each survey period to facilitate estimation of detection and occupancy probabilities. Assignment of surveyors to individual sites followed a design protocol that allows observer effects to also be estimated. The biologist visited each site once...

Northeast Montana represents critical, core breeding habitat for many of our most imperiled grasslandsongbird species. USFWS has been working cross-programmatically and with a broad array of externalpartnerships in this region to maintain and enhance habitat for these species. However, to date we havenot adequately monitored birds response to these interventions to determine if and how much we arebenefiting populations. This project would provide that capability for at least a five-year period.
