This project integrates fire risk models, species distribution models (SDMs) and population models with scenarios of future climate and land cover to project how the effects of climate-induced changes to species distributions and land use change will impact threatened species in fire-prone ecosystems. This project also identifies and prioritizes potential management responses to climate change (e.g. assisted colonization, fire management, land protection, dispersal corridors). Anticipated products include: 1) maps (digital and hard copy) of habitat suitability under current and future climate change, current and future projected urban growth and combinations of climate change and future projected urban growth, under...

Lands, including National System of Public Lands, State, and private lands, identified by BLM that are or will be considered for inclusion in a NEPA document to determine if lands open to geothermal leasing should be leased under 43 CFR Part 3200. These lands may include pending geothermal lease applications which were filed with BLM before the enactment of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58). The lands may also include nominations, under 43 CFR 3203.10, by industry for lands requested for competitive geothermal leasing.

This dataset depicts inventoried and proposed areas on National Forests in Southern California. This dataset includes areas not represented in the USFS Inventoried Roadless Areas dataset for the US, due to pending judicial decisions regarding designatino of roadless areas. This dataset was developed during the 2005 Forest Planning Revision process. This is an update of the previous RARE II information, which now is considered a historical record for the affected forests.

This dataset represents Scenic Classes from the Scenery Management System (SMS) for National Forests in southern California. The SMS is a tool for integrating the benefits, values, desires, and preferences regarding aesthetics and scenery for all levels of land and resource management planning. People are concerned about the quality of their environment and the aesthetic values of landscapes, particularly the scenery and spiritual values. Scenic integrity objectives have been designated for all areas of the national forest. At the project level, all national forest activities are subject to review of the scenic integrity objectives

This polygon layer consists of oil and gas lease locations used for analysis during the Southern California Forest Plan Revision, Sept. 2005. Documented in the plan are direct and indirect effects on Mineral and Energy Development.

This dataset depicts critical biological areas, which include the most important areas on the Southern California National Forests to manage for the protection of species-at-risk. Facilities are minimal to discourage human use. The level of human use and infrastructure is low to moderate. Wildland/Urban Interface Threat Zones may occur in this zone. Community protection vegetation treatments within the Critical Biological land use zone may occur by exception. In these cases, managers will consider species and habitat needs. The management intent is to retain the natural character and habitat characteristics in this zone and limit the level of human development to manage for protection of species-at-risk. Activities...

This dataset depicts land use zones on National Forests in Southern California, for the purpose of identifying appropriate management types of 'uses' that are consistent with the achievement of the desired conditions described in Part 1 of the revised forest plan. These land use zones are used to help demonstrate clearly management's intent and to indicate the anticipated level of public land use in any area (Place) of the national forest.

This dataset represents a first approximation of California Spotted Owl PACs (Protected Activity Centers) based on selecting the best habitat from a buffer around the owl nest locations. This was used for the southern California LRMP (Land Resource Management Plan) analysis but PACs should be delineated at the project scale.
