This data represents the five Assessment Areas of the BLM Fire and Invasives Assessment Tool (FIAT): Central Oregon, Snake/Salmon/Beaverhead, Northern Great Basin, Southern Great Basin and Western Great Basin. FIAT was developed using a process designed to identify strategies that ameliorate threats to Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG; Centrocercus urophasianus) and their habitats. While the assessment is applicable across the range of sage-grouse, the analysis is limited to Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Management Agencies’(WAFWA) Management Zones III, IV, and V (roughly the Great Basin region) because of the significant issues associated with invasive annual grasses and the high level of wildfires in this...

This data represents a management strategy of the Fire and Invasives Assessment Tool (FIAT). Potential treatment area polygons identify treatment need, type, priority and timeframe within the Project Planning Areas. Potential treatment needs address Invasive Species, Coniferous Encroachment and Sagebrush Protection/Enhancement. Potential treatment areas are prioritized as High, Medium or Low priority. FIAT was developed using a process designed to identify strategies that ameliorate threats to Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG; Centrocercus urophasianus) and their habitats. While the assessment is applicable across the range of sage-grouse, the analysis is limited to Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Management Agencies’(WAFWA)...

This data represents a management strategy of the Fire and Invasives Assessment Tool (FIAT). Emergency Stabilization and Rehabilitation (ESR) Priority Areas are also known as post-fire rehabilitation treatment areas. FIAT was developed using a process designed to identify strategies that ameliorate threats to Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG; Centrocercus urophasianus) and their habitats. While the assessment is applicable across the range of sage-grouse, the analysis is limited to Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Management Agencies’(WAFWA) Management Zones III, IV, and V (roughly the Great Basin region) because of the significant issues associated with invasive annual grasses and the high level of wildfires in...

This three-band, 30-m resolution raster contains sagebrush vegetation types, soil temperature/moisture regime classes, and large fire frequencies across greater sage-grouse population areas within the Southern Great Basin sage-grouse management zone. Sagebrush vegetation types were defined by grouping together similar vegetation types from the LANDFIRE biophysical settings layer. Soil moisture and temperature regimes were from an USDA-NRCS analysis of soil types across the greater sage-grouse range. Fire frequencies were derived from fire severity rasters created by the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity program. The area of analysis included the greater sage-grouse populations areas within specific management zones....

This data represents a management strategy of the Fire and Invasives Assessment Tool (FIAT). Fire Operations Priority Areas data are also known as potential fire operations treatment areas. Fire Operations Priority Area polygons identify areas in the Step 2 FIAT process for highest priority for initial fire attack and stationing of resources. FIAT was developed using a process designed to identify strategies that ameliorate threats to Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG; Centrocercus urophasianus) and their habitats. While the assessment is applicable across the range of sage-grouse, the analysis is limited to Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Management Agencies’(WAFWA) Management Zones III, IV, and V (roughly the...

A 30 meter integer grid representing ecosystem resilience and resistance in sagebrush habitat. “Resilience” and “resistance” to rangeland fire is the basis of the Fire and Invasive Assessment Tool (FIAT) analysis project. In simple terms, “resilience” is the ability of an area to recover from a disturbance, such as wildfire or drought. “Resistance” is the ability of an area of land to remain largely unchanged in the face of stress, disturbance, or invasive species. A resilient, resistant landscape will have integrity and be less susceptible to conversion to invasive annual grasses and landscape-scale, high-intensity fires and their effects. This raster was derived from the unique combinations of two datasets. The...

This data represents a management strategy of the Fire and Invasives Assessment Tool (FIAT). Project Planning Area (PPA) polygons are part of the FIAT Step 2 process. FIAT was developed using a process designed to identify strategies that ameliorate threats to Greater Sage-Grouse (GRSG; Centrocercus urophasianus) and their habitats. While the assessment is applicable across the range of sage-grouse, the analysis is limited to Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Management Agencies’(WAFWA) Management Zones III, IV, and V (roughly the Great Basin region) because of the significant issues associated with invasive annual grasses and the high level of wildfires in this region. It incorporates emerging science, regional...

A 30 meter integer grid derived from USGS GAP data published in 2010 of sagebrush land cover within 120 meters of conifer land cover. It is one of several inputs used in the BLM FIAT analysis completed March 2015.
