LiDAR data is remotely sensed high-resolution elevation data collected by an airborne collection platform. Using a combination of laser rangefinding, GPS positioning and inertial measurement technologies; LiDAR instruments are able to make highly detailed Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) of the earth's terrain, man-made structures and vegetation.

These data were compiled for Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge (CPNWR) in southern Arizona, to support managment efforts of water resources and wildlife conservation. Objective(s) of our study were to 1) measure water storage capacity at select stage heights in three tanks (also termed tinajas), 2) build a stage storage model to help CPNWR staff accurately estimate water volumes throughout the year, and 3) collect topographic data adjacent to the tanks as a means to help connect these survey data to past or future work. These data represent high-resolution (sub-meter) ground based lidar measurements used to meet these objectives and are provided as: processed lidar files (point clouds), rasters (digital elevation...

In 2007, the U.S Army Corps of Engineers’ Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) program partnered with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to collect FEMA-grade, bluff-to-bluff lidar for Navigation Pools 8-24 of the UMRS. In 2009, with American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) funds awarded to UMRR, the remaining lidar for the Upper Mississippi River, to the confluence with the Ohio River, and the Illinois River was contracted. Data acquisition was completed in 2011. Lidar data are remotely sensed, high-resolution elevation data collected by airplane. The Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center is processing these data to create Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), 0.5 meter contour lines, and pool-wide...

Note: NED data can be accessed through The National Map (USGS). Instructions are available on The National Map Viewer homepage. The National Elevation Dataset (NED) is the primary elevation data product produced and distributed by the USGS. The NED provides the best available public domain raster elevation data of the conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and territorial islands in a seamless format. The NED is derived from diverse source data, processed to a common coordinate system and unit of vertical measure. All NED data are distributed in geographic coordinates in units of decimal degrees, and in conformance with the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83). All elevation values are provided in units of...
