These are terrestrial laser scanner datasets collected in forested areas west of Flagstaff, Arizona in 2015 and 2016. For each of the two scanners, six treatment areas were scanned, with four of them overlapping one another (Figure 1). These data are composed of individual scans referenced to one another using reflective targets, and geolocated using differentially corrected GPS and RTK locations of scan locations (Figure 3). There were overall large differences in point density among the two scanners (Figure 2).

These data were compiled to help understand how climate change may impact dryland pinyon-juniper ecosystems in coming decades, and how resource management might be able to minimize those impacts. Objective(s) of our study were to model the demographic rates of PJ woodlands to estimate the areas that may decline in the future vs. those that will be stable. This raster dataset depicts percent canopy cover derived from 1-m conifer classifications. Conifer features were classified from 2010, 2012, and 2013 NAIP Digital Ortho Quarter Quads (DOQQ) using the Feature Analyst 5.0 extension for ArcGIS 10.1. Tiles were organized and grouped by Nevada Department of Wildlife Population Management Unit (PMU) locations, plus a 10 km area beyond the PMU extent. Analysts visually identified conifers in the imagery using false color infrared settings and digitized multiple trees per tile as training locations for classification. Fire in the western U.S. poses one of the greatest threats to human and ecological communities alike. In fact, fire management is the largest single expenditure of land management funds on federal lands. Now, climate change is altering wildfire patterns. DOQQs were organized and grouped by Nevada Department of Wildlife Bi-State Population Management Unit (PMU) locations, plus a 10 km area beyond the PMU extent. The polygons in this file represent dissolved boundaries of NAIP DOQQ polygons that were associated with the nearest PMU that they intersected. Many DOQQs had to be assigned to a PMU manually because they occurred beyond the original PMU boundary or fell along the boundary between two or more PMUs. These data contain located day-roosts for the northern long-eared bat (Myotis septentrionalis) at the North River Game Land, North Carolina in May and June of 2019. Data contained include individual bat tracked, date day-roost was found, day-roost unique ID, geographic coordinates of day-roost, tree species of day-roost, diameter breast height (cm) of day-roost, day-roost decay-stage, bat roost height, percent of exfoliating bark on day-roost, surrounding canopy closure and day-roost type (live tree or snag).
Strontium isotope sourcing has become a common and useful method for assigning sources to archaeological artifacts. In Chaco Canyon, an Ancestral Pueblo regional center in New Mexico, previous studies using these methods have suggested that significant portion of maize and wood originate in the Chuska Mountains region, 75 km to the East. In the present manuscript, these results were tested using both frequentist methods (to determine if geochemical sources can truly be differentiated) and Bayesian methods (to address uncertainty in geochemical source attribution). These data were compiled in support of the 'Predicting the next high-impact insect invasion: Elucidating traits and factors determining the risk of introduced herbivorous insects on North American native plants' project, supported by the U.S. Geological Survey John Wesley Powell Center for Analysis and Synthesis. This project supports a collaborative, multi-stakeholder effort led by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to develop a largescale vulnerability assessment and associated adaptation strategies for focal resources of the Sierra Nevada. Photo-interpretation of high-resolution aerial imagery was used to delineate individual stems of select woody species and to map vegetation communities at Palmyra Atoll, USA. Imagery collected using Unoccupied Aerial Systems in October, 2016, as well as derived elevation and mosaicked orthoimagery, were used to delineate individual crowns of coconut, Pisonia and other selected woody species that comprise the bulk of the canopy on the island. National Vegetation Classification System vegetation associations and other vegetation communities were also mapped. Finally, the high tide line was delineated to provide an updated map and estimate of area for terrestrial resources.
This data set contains imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). The NAIP program is administered by USDA FSA and has been established to support two main FSA strategic goals centered on agricultural production. These are increase stewardship of America's natural resources while enhancing the environment, and to ensure commodities are procured and distributed effectively and efficiently to increase food security. This is driven by human food inputs, but the consequence of these resources for urban animal populations is poorly understood. We investigated the role of human foods in ant diets across an urbanization gradient in Manhattan using carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes.
