This dataset contains geochemical data for unconsolidated sediments (stream sediments, lake sediments, etc.) collected by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) personnel and analyzed in the analytical laboratories of the Geologic Division of the USGS. These data represent analyses of sediment samples collected in support of various USGS programs. The data were originally entered into the in-house Rock Analysis Storage System (RASS) database which was used by the Geologic Division from the early-1970's through the late-1980's to archive geochemical data. An unpublished CD-ROM was developed in 1996 that contains the RASS data in GSSEARCH format. That CD was used to generate this data set.

This dataset represents land cover for southeastern Wyoming including the portion of Laramie County from Interstate 25 west, all of Albany and Carbon Counties and part of Sweetwater county. The landcover map was developed from Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+) data acquired in the summer of 2002 using a series of unsupervised classifications and guided labeling of classes based on field data. The map was created between 2002 and 2004 for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department as part of a larger spatial database designed to be used to help guide their land management activities, particularly in shrublands. The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. NHD data was originally developed at 1:100,000-scale and exists at that scale for the whole country. A DRG is a raster image of a published map. DRG's are made by scanning published paper maps on high-resolution scanners. The raster image is georeferenced and fit to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, and NAD 1927 Datum. Colors are standardized to remove scanner limitations and artifacts. The average data set size is about 8 megabytes in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) with PackBits compression. DRG's can be easily combined with other digital cartographic products such as digital elevation models (DEM) and digital orthophoto quadrangles (DOQ). Multi-season satellite imagery (Landsat ETM+) from 1999-2001 were used in conjunction with digital elevation model (DEM) derived datasets (e.g. elevation, landform, aspect, etc.) to model natural and semi-natural vegetation. The minimum mapping unit for this dataset is approximately 1 hectare. Landcover classes are drawn from NatureServe's Ecological System concept.
