This feature class was created to assemble oil and gas well information for a comprehensive inventory of energy data pertinent to the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative decision-making process. These data are available as online resources for scientists, resource managers engaged in the Initiative, and other researchers. The GIS data and map services created for this study are available for interactive analysis and/or download at the Energy Geoscience Center WLCI website.

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (river bottom elevation) in XYZ format, generated from the February 14, 2017, topographic and hydrographic survey of the Des Plaines River in an area centered approximately 0.3 miles downstream of Brandon Road Lock and Dam at Joliet, Illinois. Hydrographic data were collected using a multibeam echo-sounder (MBES) with integrated inertial navigation solution (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the river along survey lines distributed throughout the area. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the multibeam sonar and the horizontal and vertical position and attitude data of the vessel from the INS...

The dataset includes ecoregion specific species distribution models for 149 common fluvial fishes of the Conterminous U.S. Species models were developed for fluvial fishes considered common and native in each of the nine EPA Wadeable Streams Assessment program aquatic ecoregions (Herlihy et al. 2008) in which the species occurred. Common native species were identified as being geographically widespread and relatively abundant within ecoregions and utilize a wide variety of habitat types. Boosted regression tree models were used to develop presence/absence predictions for each of the National Hydrography Plus Dataset Version 1.0 (NHDPlusV1) stream reaches. The text files provided can be linked to the NHDPlusV1 data...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (lake bottom elevation) in XYZ format, generated from the July 25, 2016, topographic and hydrographic survey of Lake Michigan in an area near Ogden Dunes, Indiana. Hydrographic data were collected using a multibeam echo-sounder (MBES) with integrated inertial navigation solution (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the lake along survey lines distributed throughout the area. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the multibeam sonar and the horizontal and vertical position and attitude data of the vessel from the INS in real time. Data processing required computer software to extract bathymetric...

Natural river channels continually evolve and change shape over time. As a result, channel evolution or migration can cause problems for bridge structures that are fixed in the flood plain. A once-stable bridge structure that was uninfluenced by a river’s shape could be encroached upon by a migrating river channel. The potential effect of the actively meandering Wabash River on the Interstate 64 (I–64) Bridge at the border with Indiana near Grayville, Illinois, was studied using a river migration model called RVR Meander (RVR Meander, 2011). RVR Meander is a toolbox that can be used to model river channel meander migration with physically based bank erosion methods. This study assesses the Wabash River meandering...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (river bottom elevation) in XYZ format and measurements of sediment depth in CSV format, generated from the February 13–14, 2017, topographic and hydrographic survey of the Des Plaines River near Brandon Road Lock and Dam at Joliet, Illinois. Hydrographic data were collected in three separate areas (approach channel, mooring area, and upstream pool) using a multibeam echo-sounder (MBES) with integrated inertial navigation solution (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Sediment depth data were collected in the approach channel using navigational software and probing equipment mounted on a marine survey vessel.

A two-dimensional model and digital flood-inundation maps were developed for a 30-mile reach of the Wabash River near the Interstate 64 (I-64) Bridge near Grayville, Illinois. The flood-inundation maps, which can be accessed through the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Flood Inundation Mapping Science web site at http://water.usgs.gov/osw/flood_inundation/, depict estimates of the areal extent and depth of flooding corresponding to selected water levels (stages) at the USGS streamgage on the Wabash River at Mount Carmel, Ill (USGS station number 03377500). Near-real-time stages at this streamgage may be obtained on the internet from the USGS National Water Information System at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ or the National...

The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. The Assessment Unit is shown herein as a geographic boundary interpreted, defined, and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates a set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations sharing similar geologic, geographic, and temporal properties within the Total Petroleum System, such as source rock, timing, migration pathways, trapping mechanism, and hydrocarbon type. The Assessment Unit boundary is defined geologically as the limits of the geologic...

Over the past 15 years Douglas County, NV has removed production wells in northern Carson Valley from use due to relatively high arsenic concentrations (Carl Ruschmeyer, January 2013, Douglas County Public Works Director, verbal communication). To maintain the supply of water to the public, the town of Minden has been providing water to Douglas County and Carson City. Due to the projected increases in municipal demand, water resource managers are concerned that increasing pumping rates from wells in Minden may change groundwater chemistry and degrade the resource by potentially drawing in arsenic enriched water. Naturally occurring arsenic is one of the most common contaminants in groundwater in the western United...

This dataset provides summary statistics of multiple sage-grouse microhabitat characteristics of the Great Basin. These data represent the extent and spatial distribution of irrigated acreage delineated from maximum Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Landsat scenes in the Walker River Basin, California and Nevada, at five-year intervals from 1975-2010. The field boundaries in this data set are digitized from one-year composite maximum NDVI data derived from atmospherically corrected Landsat 2 Multispectral Scanner (MSS), Landsat 5 MSS, and Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes. NDVI was calculated from the corrected reflectance data for each selected scene during the growing season (May through early October) and a single, composite image of maximum NDVI values was derived for each 5-year interval. Selecting...

These data are measurements of sediment depth in the downstream approach channel of Brandon Rd Lock and Dam at Joliet, Illinois, on February 13-14, 2017. Data collection software recorded and stored the horizontal position of the vessel and the measured sediment depth. Data processing required computer software to extract position data from the target data files and to summarize and map the information.
