The U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) makes long-term seismic hazard forecasts that are used in building codes. The hazard models usually consider only natural seismicity; non-tectonic (man-made) earthquakes are excluded because they are transitory or too small. In the past decade, however, thousands of earthquakes related to underground fluid injection have occurred in the central and eastern U.S. (CEUS), and some have caused damage. In response, the USGS is now also making short-term forecasts that account for the hazard from these induced earthquakes. This dataset portrays the location of Railroads in the State of Utah derived from the most recent high resolution imagery available, including, 1 foot resolution color imagery, NAIP, 1 meter resolution imagery and 1 meter USGS DOQ's. It has been updated to include cartographic attribution for coarse scale representations (single track) and also a differentiation between light, heavy, transit, and electrified tracks.

Budge Mining Ltd., a British company owned by Tony Budge, controlled properties across several western U. S. states and northern Mexico. The company was active in Arizona during the 1980s and into the early 1990s. The collection consists of economic geologic information including maps, logs, reports and records. A few properties make up most of the collection: Vulture, United Verde Extension and Korn Kob.

Locations of railroad lines for 11 western states. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics 1:100k Railroads line network was clipped to the boundary of the 11 Western States.
This dataset represents the variety (unique structural classes: water, bare, herbaceous, short shrubs, medium shrubs, short trees, tall trees) within 1 ha of bottomland areas. Traditional image interpretation cues were used to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow, from high resolution, true color, aerial imagery (0.3m resolution), acquired for the project. Additional, public available aerial photos (NAIP, 2011) were used to cross-reference cover classes. These plant and soil data were collected by Timothy M. Wertin and Sasha C. Reed in the spring, summer, and fall of 2011 at a climate manipulation experiment site near Moab, UT (38.521411, -109.470567). These data were collected to assess how warming affects leaf photosynthesis, soil CO 2 efflux, and soil chemistry in plots of ambient and warming treatments.
These data were compiled for a manuscript in which 1) we develop a water temperature model for the major river segments and tributaries of the Colorado River basin, including the Colorado, Green, Yampa, White, and San Juan rivers; 2) we link modeled water temperature to fish population data to predict the probability native and nonnative species will be common in the future in a warming climate; and 3) assess the degree to which dams create thermal discontinuity in summer in river segments across the western US. These data were collected as part of a field trial to test the effectiveness of a sylvatic plague vaccine (see Rocke et al., 2017 for details). Vaccine and control plots were selected randomly from the available pairs at each location. Baits containing Rhodamine B, a biomarker, were distributed at each plot. At least 1 week and no more than 2 months post-baiting each year, local collaborators captured, marked, and sampled prairie dogs. Hair and whisker samples were collected from up to 50 unique prairie dogs from each plot each year.
