This data release contains environmental and quality control results for chemical, biological, and physical sampling of water and bed sediment from Albemarle Sound and associated tributaries between 2012 and 2014 referenced in USGS OFR 2016-1171. This publication provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution magnetic and radiometric survey over an area of northwest Arkansas. The airborne geophysical survey was jointly funded by the USGS National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program and the Earth Mapping Resource Initiative and was designed to meet the complimentary needs related to geologic mapping and mineral resource research. The survey covers an irregular area 225 by 110 kilometer over the transition between the Ouachita and Ozarks Plateau physiographic provinces and includes 67,614 line-kilometers of magnetic and radiometric data. This ArcGIS shapefile shows the known locations of beaver activity (including beaver chews, lodges, and dams) in the Tualatin Basin. USGS was intending to collect information about the locations of beaver dams. Often, the GPS coordinates of dams were not known, but the beaver-affected areas were known. The information about locations with beaver activity was generated by multiple local agencies, groups, and organizations. The local sources had identified the beaver activity locations between 2013 and 2016. USGS worked with these local sources to combine all data into one inventory.

This data release provides data for the single site in the United States (U.S.) that has public record of germanium (Ge) production. Germanium, which is currently classified as a critical mineral in the U.S., is also extracted as a byproduct from deposits in Alaska, Washington, and Tennessee. However, there is no public information that documents germanium production from these deposits. Current annual production of refined germanium is led by China at 85,000 tons, while estimates place U.S. reserves near 2,500 tons. Reported production of germanium in the U.S. is limited to one site, the Apex mine in Washington County, Utah.
