Low-altitude (80 and 100 meters above ground level) digital images were collected at Sage Lot Pond in Waquoit, Massachusetts, two sites on the Mill River in Taunton, MA, Great Marsh in Barnstable, MA, the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve in Wells, ME, and on the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Quissett Campus in Woods Hole, MA using 3DR Solo unoccupied aircraft systems (UAS) during 2018. These images were collected to support science and data needs in wetland research, topographic mapping, and landcover detection at the U.S. Geological Survey Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center. The imagery and associated ground control points can be used to create Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), orthoimages,...

Low-altitude (70 m above ground level) aerial images were collected over five areas of interest within the northern portion of Assateague Island National Seashore (ASIS) in mid-October, 2022. These images were collected to generate photogrammetric products (e.g. digital surface model (DSM), reflectance orthomosaic) to support science and data needs of National Park managers attempting to locate invasive Phragmites australis expansion. A DJI Matrice 600 uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) was equipped with a MicaSense Altum-PT multispectral camera and a Ricoh GRII true-color RGB camera to collect images simultaneously with sufficient overlap for photogrammetric processing. Ground control points (GCPs), black and white...

The U.S. Geological Survey's Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center (UMESC) collects aerial photography of the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) floodplain on a regular basis. These data are used to support the Center's long-term goals of understanding the UMRS and developing useful products for the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program (LTRMP). In 2000, 1:16,000-scale true color aerial photos were collected on the Mississippi River from Cairo, IL to Minneapolis, MN and the on Illinois River from its confluence with the Mississippi near Grafton, IL to Lake Michigan/Chicago, IL. The photos were collected using a 60% stereo overlap between photos in the same flight line and a 30% overlap between flight lines....

Album caption and index card: Playa lake in Fezzan. Aerial view of the saline lake at Nashnusha, about 60 kilometers northwest of Umm Al Abyad, in the Ubari Sand Sea. This lake dries up in the summer. In the background are the high sand dunes in step from several tens of meters high. To the right of center are the deposits of sodium carbonate in the bottom of the lake. The striped pattern results from troughs dug in the lake to concentrate the sodium carbonate. Libya. ca. 1958. Published in U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper 660, Figure 16-B. 1970.

Aerial view looking north at Cheyenne Mountain from an altitude of 10,000 feet above Lytle, Cheyenne Mountain, type locality of the Cheyenne Mountain erosion surface, is a mass of Pre-Cambrian rock that has been thrust eastward onto Cretaceous strata at the south end of the Ute Pass fault. The fault line is marked by the abrupt termination of the foothills. El Paso County, Colorado. Circa 1932. Figure 16, with sketch, in U.S.Geological Survey Professional paper 223. 1950.

Album caption: An aerial view of the Karst limestone formation near Arecibo taken by the Aero Service Corporation in 1940 while photgraphing the island for topographic mapping. A disappearing stream can be seen in the upper left. The summits vary in height. Many are several hundred feet high above the adjacent depression. Very few people live in the type of topography. Only the rich soil in the depressions can be cultivated. No index card. Note: May be copyrighted.

Big Thompson Canyon Flood, Larimer County, Colorado. Deeply scoured alluvium along Dry Gulch and a tributary fan. Dry Gulch crested here at about 4,460 cubic feet per second. Note the evidence of over-bank flow on the alluvial fan. Photo by W.R. Hansen, August 14, 1976. Index card: Big Thompson Flood, no. 3: Typical view of terrain in the Big Thompson River basin near the storm center. Larimer County, Colorado. n.d.
